I've decided that I'd like to make myself a Slash style Les Paul. I'm not saying that it needs to be authentic Slash, I just want it similar with some of my own preferences thrown in.

I'm looking for a gold top or a tobacco burst LP style guitar. I have almost all the hardware I need. I just need an empty body with a poker chip and pickup rings (I can order the chip and rings if needed)

I would prefer it to have an ebony board.

A bound body, neck and head would be nice but not absolutely necessary and a long neck tenon would be cool too but also not absolutely necessary.

I was thinking of picking up an Agile for around $400, and then selling off all it's hardware, wiring, pickups..etc. And, that might be what I end up doing since it seems to be the best guitar for the money. And this would fall into the price range I'm aiming at of $300 and under for an empty body.

I would prefer a more LP shaped body if at all possible. The Agiles are very nice and very similar to the LP shape, I'm just not sure that I 100% like the ... chubby :)... bottom of the Agiles compared to the original LP shape. lol.. not sure how else to describe it. I definitely don't mind the Agile shape, but I would prefer the slimmer body shape of an epiphone, edwards, orville, burny...etc.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on what to look for besides Agile? Or would the Agile be my best choice in this case?

I am looking for used guitars as well, and not limiting myself to only new. Ideally I would like to find a nice MIJ Gold top with, ebony board, binding, and with no hardware or wiring for around $350 or less :). But, that might just be a dream. I guess I could always buy a little more expensive MIJ and sell off the hardware too.

Anyway, you get where I'm goin with this. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Agile. All of the 3000 or higher models have ebony boards.

Thnx pattern.

Ya I was havin a good look around the rondo site and they really do have some nice lookin stuff.

I found these that would fit nicely for what i'm after:

Agile AL-3000 Gold Top at RondoMusic.com

Agile AL-3000 Tobacco at RondoMusic.com

And then I came across this..

Agile AL-3100 Silverburst at RondoMusic.com

That is one hell of a nice geetar. I gotta say, I may just change my idea from tobacco burst slash to silver burst slash lol. And I do prefer the look of the Pearl Inlays.

Very very nice guitars the 3000's and 3100's. I am more than likely goin to go that route.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

That silverburst looks well off. Why do you want to be Slash?

Where in Sask are you? What hardware makes it a Slash model?.

I have an Agile (something or another? don't know what model it is),collecting dust. Its a ebony board,sun/clown/Jimmy burst lookin thing and has grovers and Seymour's(JB/'59 I think?) no binding. Non fancy but nice hardcase. Don't know what its worth but $400 sounds too low??.

Why? He's got a sweet thicket of hair, and I'm as bald as a cueball. lol jk.

lol I really don't want to be him at all. I just have a bunch of parts and some Alnico II pro's, so thought I'd make myself a project :)

I think the only hardware that makes it "Slash" style, would be the pickups. Other than that I have no idea.

I'm from the Swift Current area of Saskatchewan. How bout yourself?

Like I said, I'm just doin this for a project. I already have a Epiphone Slash Signature guitar, but it NEVER gets played. I will be selling it sometime soon. I just can't keep it forever collecting dust when I could sell it/trade it for something that will get used.

And you have an Agile for sale? If so, can you send me some pictures?

Thanks
