when you talk about the other band,

Talk as if YOU are in someone else's band.
They let you be in it. Maybe cause you have jam space. IDK

That way he can be jealous, but not mad at you, cause you have no say on him being in the band.

I play bass, my two friends play drums. One is better than the other but I'm good friends with both of them. I also have a friend that plays guitar. He has his own gear, neither drummers have their own gear, we jam at my house and they play my drums. I have fun with both drummers but one is better than the other. Not sure what to do.
