TRC? Remember the post that said they were still trying to finalize the royalty? How much you think Ace got for each axe?

I hate the marketing of it. It's a huge FU to all of us. If you want one that "looks" the part you either go epi for the price or the distressed. The USA version is a joke. Nothing Budokan about it with a two piece top and NO BINDING on the back of the body. I guess if they did those things the more expensive version wouldn't sell so hey let's stick it to the guys that can't afford it or the ones who don't like the epi headstock. Off my soapbox now.

I just mean that a Les Paul Custom should have binding on both the front of the body and back. A Standard only has it on the front and the USA Budokan only has it on the front. The one I looked at yesterday at GC has a two piece top. The 70s Norlin like Ace's has a 3 piece. The relic'd version has a 3 piece. I think the Epi has a 3 piece top and body binding on both the front and back. The USA made version looks like a mistake or prototype without the back body binding. That bothers me more than the top. If you're going to call it the Ace Budokan is should at least have the proper Custom binding.....So to me, if you want it to have the period correct top and proper binding you either have to go up or down in the price range because the middle of the road doesn't have it.

Thanks!

That's probably a good part of why the Epi version is an expensive Epi and the Gibson version is a middle of the road Gibson.
