So I am starting to get really serious with my playing and I am looking for my first all tube amp. Right now I am playing exclusively at home but I am going to start playing gigs soon and I wanted to know what amp is good for both home use and gigging? I mostly play blues, blues rock, and a lot of other things like indie but not metal. I am currently looking at the vox ac15c1. I would just like to see more variation and any more suggestions. I did consider the blues jr. at one point but was told by a guitar shop sales person that they see more blues jr. in for repairs than the vox and I like the vox tone better imo. It doesn't matter if its a combo or a head/cab as long as it's under 700$ the cheaper the better.

Also because I'm not currently gigging atm, should I just buy the ac4tv? It's just that I do not want to have to buy another amp later on.

Jet City JCA 2212 or Peavey Classic 30. Cheap but good.

If you were in King's Landing, I'd say go down to Little Finger's Music Emporium and try some amps out. But, in Winterfell, specially now, there aint much. :naughty:

If you TRULY like the Vox tone, then frankly get a Vox. Be it an AC15 or AC30.

Or the Egnater Tweaker 15w or 40w. Can play in Fenderish, Voxish, Marshallesque territory.

Ampeg GVT15-112 - I have the head. Truly steller, unique cleans that can be fat, chimey and shimmer with a tight bass all at the same. Great blues crunch, and can get into 60s-70s rock crunch unaided. Or better yet, go for the GVT52-112 or 212 50 watt 2 ch version.

Bugera V22. $380. Best sounding amp I've ever heard under $700(and maybe a little higher than that), and it's fairly loud at 22 watts.

like the ac15? it's a good amp! want to save some dough on it? look at the ac15 VR valve reactor... it's a hybrid, but it might fool you... an amp does not have to be all tube to be good

Thanks for the replies, I really like the vox only because it beat out the other amps in the store. Unfortunately I only have 2 guitar shops around my area and both do not have any of these amps you guys are suggesting so I can't try it out. Honestly I would rather save money on the amp as I'm still in college and would rather buy a 600 - 700$ amp when I graduate. I have never tried ampeg or jet city but ill look at vids on youtube, I was looking at the bugera but was told that it breaks easily is this true? I would go for the bugera only because it's the cheaper of the three but only if it does blues really well.

If you like that vox chime, then definitely get the vox ac15c1, it is a really nice amp and hits all those great vox tones that you love.

AC15 is indie heaven. My Blues Jr is pushing 20 years soon and it's never given me an ounce of trouble...

AC15 gets my vote. I've seen lots of guys here use them locally and they always sound great.

The guy at the guitar shop said that the older ones are fine it's the newer ones that he noticed are in the shop more. Yeah I guess I'm going to spend on the ac15c1 then. Thanks for the replies!
