For me it's a toss up between Harry Connick Jr. and *flame suit on* Morton Harket (the lead singer of A-Ha).

Both have very smooth, soulful voices - and Harket's range is absolutely incredible.

I know most people think of 'Take on Me' when they think of A-Ha, but that's not their best song by a long shot. Check out his vocals on 'The Sun Always Shines on TV' and 'Out of Blue Comes Green' - very powerful.
