Good Lord! I don't wanna have to do it all over again. :wow:

It was rough enough the first time.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and as long as it is not a train, everything is looking sweet!!! :dude:

...but to answer the question ... I know of no other way than my current choice (software engineering) ... so I'd just do it again ... after much crying and gnashing of teeth.

Serious answer: Hindsight being 20:20 there are a myriad of tweaks that I coulda/woulda/shoulda but I'll go with

1. Let go of the corporate teet in my 30's instead of my 40's as I had outgrown working for "the man" and knew it by then.
2. NEVER have a partner (only had one from one of my endeavors) just because what might be perceived going into it as synergy can actually be redundancy... and therefore worthless in all ways. Getting rid of a partner is a meal best served with near-fatal poison (since both eat from the same plate). Keep some secret snacks off to the side while it's happening.

I'd be the Jared from Subway guy......Without the pedophilia. Just get 15 million bucks to do 30 second commercials, and be on posters.

Oh, I'd skip the fake charity too.

The first ten years or so of my gigging activities were wonderful. No intention of looking for proper work, and having all day and all night and all afternoon to do exactly as I pleased, it was the time of my life. I wouldn't trade that for anything, but wouldn't go through it all again.

It's the same reason I hope to god there is no afterlife.

I love my current job of high school history teacher. It is my seventeenth year and I am in it for the long haul. If I did it over, I would have either gone the professor route for teaching in college or a park ranger. My visits to Bryce and Zion in my early 20s almost led me there.

There are things I would have done better.

Different? Probably not.
This. When I was starting out my career, there was a lot of change happening in the software industry. It was hard to keep up and know what path to follow and what to learn. Knowing what I know now, I think a lot of things would have ended up differently.

Freelance, man....

Like, walk up a chick in a bar and reach up under her skirt... "Relax ma'am... I'm a freelance gynecologist." :D

I have several things that I wish I would have done more of. One is music, the other is staying in college as I had wanted to be a corporate attorney. But I think the thing I really should have done was to be in automotive design as I love cars so much. As a kid growing up I wanted to be like my one hero Richard Petty loved watching him so awesome. But I really love cars and automotive design would have been the thing. But I also love getting my hands dirty and getting into the nuts and bolts of things. :D

I'm happy. I could only see wanting to go back if I wasn't. The deal with these scenarios is you don't get to take the wisdom with you. In that case, I aint fvcking with it, things could have easily turned out bad.
