The body is stamped, made on the 312 day of 1982 in Kalamazoo.
The Shaw Pickups date to March 1983. The Kalamazoo Plant closed
in September of 1984. Nice Guitar.

The date stamp is in the control cavity.

That guitar is SUPER. if I were spending...I'd put my money towards that vs. a modern Historic. My 2 cents. NOTHING wrong with new ones...at all...but that's got some sweet Michigan mojo, Shaws, killer top, nice case etc. they won't be made like that again. Plenty of Historical inaccuracies no question...but a very charming guitar that would play like a freight train I'm sure!!

That is a great guitar. The word "investment" gets bandied around this section rather too often and without consideration. That guitar is an investment.:thumb:

Has a number of Guitar Trader features but again gives clues that it definitely isn't one! Having spoken to Mike Slubowski in the past about these "hybrid" 59 re-issues I wonder if this isn't one of the Kalamazoo "final builds" as the last of the guys employed building these used up what was left and shut the doors for good. I'd like to think so!:thumb:

Yep a leftover body from the various special dealer runs used for a Kalamazoo 1983 Les Paul Flametop Reissue. It is GORGEOUS! Some of the 1983 and 1984 Reissues were made in Kalamazoo, though most were made in Nashville.

I was thinking down that same road. It seems hard to imagine a LP with so many features compatible other the other reissues of the time being pushed down the line as just another LP standard. IF it was officially a reissue, it seems it would fall into one of the Gibson reissue buckets.
Nonetheless, I concur- she's a beauty, no matter what her origins. Appreciate all the responses to date....thanks.
