Came across this LP for sale and the top caught my eye. Looking deeper into it, the seller says it's a custom shop, and the serial number almost looks as if it's a reissue, but it's sketiching me out a little bit, as the custom shop decal looks like it was spliced in, and the seller doesn't seem to know much about the guitar other than it's had a headstock repair.

Can anyone shed light on this one?

Do you have a front headstock photo, cutaway photo and cavity photos mainly controls and neck pup. If not ask for them and if they won't provide them just move on to the next one.

there was a prior post by Thebig71 about this very same guitar, it's on page 3.
"need help to identify this custom shop lp"
It may be a 2012 Custom Shop Standard.

Yeah no maple peaking thru the binding in the cutaway, so its not a recent reissue. Id need to see the neck pup route for sure, if its a long tenon then its definitely a custom shop. But the very first year classics came with an abr, reissue style serial number and didnt say les paul classic in the script on the head stock.
Again if they wont provide a clear picture of the control cavity route and the neck pup route, I'd be inclined to think it's a classic that someone is trying to pass off as a reissue.

That decal on the back is very questionable to me.

They either did a horrendous job of buffing out the clear to make it look as seamless as possible or it was added on after the fact. I am more leaning towards it was added after the fact as you can even see someone cleared over the wrinkles rather than getting it to sit straight.

It was claimed to have "minor neck repair".........The obscure view of the serial number seen in a pic in the other post shows a CS prefix serial number with a 2 and five other blurry digits (better pic needed) so it's not a Classic. More information was requested with no reply......So......?
It could be 2002 or a 2012....
Rimburst....metal jack plate......grovers......normal Les Paul logo position(not historic).....my guess is a Custom Shop Standard as these were made in a number of colors.....Denim blue...Purple Mist....Green Mist.....in 2012.
