I was not able to shoot our Action Pistol Match today, because I have the plague. As if that isn't bad enough, my Grandson won it.

There will be no living with him for a while. :laugh2:

I always root for him, but I do (did) enjoy beating his ass. Those days are very few and very far between, these days.

I usually shoot paper plates and steel but seldom shoot traditional targets because that's where I choose to be cheap. A few days ago, I found a tiny target left on my range by a neighbor. He'd shot it with a .22, but it had life left for a .45 so I stapled it onto a paper plate.

This was my first time shooting my ACW at twenty-five yards. All my issued duty guns had three-dot night sights, so this gold bead front sight and blacked out rear on the ACW has been a big adjustment I keep struggling with. But this gun has become my favorite gun, and I'll eventually get used to the sights and one day, maybe, shoot better with it.

Maybe throw on a set of Dawson's?

Shitty pix, but here's the Dawson FO front that I put on my 1911. I kept the stock rear sight.

I discovered my favorite sights, orange Ameriglo bold, with my final duty gun. For me nothing else performs as well day and night. Even in the bright summer sun in a tense situation that front sight was extremely visible when pointed at someone.

The gold bead captures light well, and I’ve already decided to stay with the current setup. It’s going to take time to get comfortable with these sights, but I have very few rounds through it compared to the tens and tens of thousands of rounds with three dot sights. The ACW does plenty well for my post retirement lifestyle and it’s thorough lack of excitement.

I have a Dawson front sight with a fiber optic rod that broke.

Now I need a new optic rod. But I don’t know the diameter to buy. Guess I have to buy them all.

I‘m going green this time. It was red before.
Reach out to Dawson, maybe they can get you the right one.

I do prefer the green. My trap/sporting clay shottie has multiple inserts. It came with red, but when I tried the green, I was sold on it.

That’s why the 1911 is green.

I have the Ameriglo on my 19. It has a tritium insert for nighttime. The rear sight also has a tritium insert, too.

Great sight set for a carry pistol.

Same here.
At work or play.

Orange with blue string.

Tried a lot of different ones over the past 35 years.
These work consistently well for me.

I had a hearing test last month and have hearing loss in both ears. No surprise after all the years of shoulder mics constantly going from barely audible to screaming and constantly running the siren. Plus, I have a healthy dose of tinnitus which is endless fun. So, whenever I'm at the range I wear earplugs and muffs.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on active earmuffs.........

View attachment 654210

Lowest price in years. Cheap enough where I bought a set just to keep in the car. In case I forget mine going to the range.

I wear those muffs for all my pistol shooting. I cannot wear them for long gun use, so I either use the disposable buds, or I'll use the rubber ones on a string, for those activities.

I did not have good luck with the impact sport. It's like it doesn't cup to my head snugly. I'm having better luck with my cheapo in-store muffs I got while I did my live fire.

What do you guys make of the latest lawsuit against SIG regarding the P320? I own one and think it's a pretty damn fine firearm. I have the P320X Full.

I think those are also the earlier models. don't forget, the P320 has gone through several revisions to the FCU and trigger since they started making it. I don't just mean the different versions of the gun, like the P320 Compact, the AXG, and the full size. I meant each of those guns has had internal revisions as new guns are produced to combat the known issues.

Ok guys, a little help here.... Does the damn thing fire because of the weird dbl action mechanism mechanics where it's cocked but it's not but it partly IS really cocked? Just how in the stem winding hell can anything release without pull-trig? Para Ord designed a system with those LDAs (ungodly handguns, wish I had gotten an LDA) I think Glock is similar mechanism as are others, whether a hammer or not... I haven't ever heard of this I don't think.....

I just can't wrap my head around a Sig puking a round without somebody doing something....or a Glock or a Para Ord LDA....or any number of others...

I think I read in there only mentions of "a" round....as in single.... Why not multiple discharges? RnR?

Is there less danger of a puke actually shooting it (recoil forces, machine transitional forces, etc.) than 'not doing anything' and it just goes off?

Recoil, dropping it, throwing it across the room, won't make it go off....but lay it down on the table and the sumbitch will go off by itself and shoot the coffee maker?

And exactly how many out of total have exhibited that?

Be interesting if we could be privy to the above info from Sig and not from MSM....

Something smelleth...

A while back someone on Sigtalk was saying that it is never that they were "sitting on the coffee table." they seem to go off when they are being handled in some way.

Nobody finds one that went off in the safe...

Hmm

I think police-trade-ins will go through the roof.

Whether the suit has merit or not, no department is going to want to be associated with the "gun that just goes off".

Meanwhile (@edro will like this joke).... French military units are beginning to issue P320's to their troops.

So when the troops throw up their arms in surrender, and drop their guns, at least the gun will keep fighting! :laugh2:
