I have these already.Gibson Les Paul Classic with Seymour's Alnico 2 Pro's and this Lester fake.It was one of the first guitars I got,I thought it was real at the time. I,m thinking of getting another LP. What is the model number pecking order for Tokai's ? Also Greco's ,Edwards are rare over here, but they do come up. Any points to look out for? I saw pics of some MIJ Epis ,they look good too.Thanks.

You need a Lester with P-90s...you've got the humbucker sound pretty well covered!

+1000 on that I just got my first p90 guitar and my friend now wants one.
They are totaly under rated and appear on a lot more records than people think....

Les Paul-models with non-PAF PUs are a true enrichment! The P-90s are perfect for a solid guitar with lots of sustain and a darker, full and singing tone through mahogany wood. Also the mini-hums sound great in this type of guitars! The Gibson LP Deluxe is a vintage guitar with rising value, but sometimes the great GRECO LP Deluxe-models are offered in the bay, way cheaper than the american role model. I had the opportunity to compare them. The GRECO EG-500 -version I tested was absolutely gorgeous (THANX, Oli)! P-90 -LPs by ARIA pro II, EDWARDS or BURNY are really good alternative-versions. Attention! There are cheap copies of the ARIA pro II P-90 -model on the market! You can identify them at the korean/chinese bridge-posts (the wider, slotted ones wich are also used on Epipgone-LPs). The bodies of this bad copies are made of plywood! :Ohno: :wtf: So always ask the seller for pics of the PU-cavities to see if it´s plywood or solid mahogany. The original ARIA pro II LS-600 P model is ultra-rare, but also in the bay, sometimes;)

I think P90s are the way I'm gunna go.So I slipped a Phat Cat that I had into the snide. It sounds real nice. So i'm going to look for a Gem type guitar. BTW it plays and sounds as good as my real Les Paul.

Yeah got the smartwood bought a hiscox for it to live in. Haven't changed pickups they are not too bad (plus i'm broke haha).

The BFG gets a lot hate from some people. I think its great. I did a few mods and it looks and sounds much better than stock. It really sings and crunches nicely, the neck is a 50's style, thicker than the classic and smartwood. I was thinking of getting BFG neck shaved a little to between 50's and 60's profile as i don't have massive hands, but not sure that i'll bother as it may alter the tone.

Changed out power valves in boogie with matched jj's:dude:. Problem with preamp though, mid control does nothing need to replace pot so got to get it checked out. You were right about dialling that boogie in haha, not typical amp settings at all, it will sound better once that mid is sorted and serviced.

Your Marshall looks sweet, played one years ago with an overdrive to kick up a gear for leads, was amazing. Would love to get one but wife will be running after me with a saucepan.

Whats the phat cat like compared to the classic's bridge pickup (Did i tell you i had put an a5 magnet in the bridge alnico pro 2?)

You did tell me about the pups, but I forgot. I think they are class.they really gel in the Classic. The Phat Cat,s is a bit like a cross between the Classics pups. Fuller then the bridge, clearer then the neck. I'm going to get one for the neck too. I do like P90's. BTW ,I liked the Smartwood's tone too. It had a bit of a Les Paul and SG in it.

A perfect example of a (custom-reliced) Aria pro II P-90 Lester-COPY:
1978 Aria Pro II 1956 Les Paul Lawsuit Replica

I was watching this one but it seems that it too is a plywood copy. Hard to tell by the photos in the auction but I am pretty sure it has screw posts in the bridge with the dark back and white cavity covers (mid to late 70's Aria's did have the 3 screw truss covers so I do not want to mention that as the culprit per say). That poor sap who paid that much is going to be choked...unless it was legit, in which case I am gonna be pissed! LOL!!

Your damn´right, bro! That bitch is a really cheap one. A plywood rip-off -Lester. The regular LS-600 P is a rare, hard to find guitar.
