Im playing through my rogue 30watt bass amp for two years now which honestly isnt a bad sounding amp,but i need a good gigging amp.
Preferebly a halfstack.
I am particularly biased towards marshalls but I can't afford them.
the only one I could afford is the Marshall MG100HDFX
I want a tube but i think that im gonna have to get a solid state amp.
Escpecially on my budget.
Any copies or good amps that you know about?

Here we go again...
I'll say the same thing I always say to the squids of the gig world. Very few people actually need a multispeaker stack for gigs these days. A smaller cab with one or two speakers or a combo amp is much more useful and practical. The trend as PAs have gotten better is to have the guitar amp get smaller and run a lower dB sound pressure level on stage. What you'll find most useful is a reliable amp with a good clean sound and good distortion tone, 15 to 50 watt tube or 50 to 100 watt solid state.
If I was flat broke, I wouldn't plan on spending all of a $600 windfall on an amp. I can give you suggestions for a reasonable setup (probably used) that won't take all of that, but the tone snobs will be probably telling you to spend it all, life's too short for bad tone, blah, blah, blah. Listen to me, I'm right.:naughty:
If you can give details of what type music you play and what type settings you can foresee playing in in the next year we can give you more specific guidance. And don't worry, although this will sound like advice from your dad, it will be designed to keep you loud, sounding badass, and rockin'.:headbanger:

I got my Fender Hod Rod DeVille 4X10 for $400 used. Good, solid 60-watt tube rig for cats like you and I who rock on a budget. It has a preamp out so your tone can go straight to the P.A., and still use your combo as a monitor. BY FAR my favorite feature!
This sucker runs the gamut- Goes from pristine clean(clean channel) to down and dirty(drive channel), and even metal crunch(MORE drive channel). You can switch between all three channels with the included footswitch.
Speaking of footswitches, the only thing I'd change about the amp is to have the reverb be footswitchable.

My uncle I would say. My dad tried to learn and got as far as major chords..... haha but yeah he's the one to say absolutely not, I dont need something etc.

But the stuff I write has got a Foo fighters feel to it and I some of the songs ive written go from light distortion to a :headbanger::jam:
You know what I mean?
I like clarity in my amp since alot of my riffs are simple licks most of you could play in a after hearing it with your eyes closed, better, But i have found my self getting faster and musically smarter recently. But I like a good clean distortion (oxymoron) (claricle..Is that a word?) that wont kill my tone and will put out every note I play. My guitar has turned out to be more than I expected it to ever be, and it honestly has its own sound and I want that to be recognizable clean and distorted.

Does that help?
I appreciate it.

Several more questions to direct the search...
We need some details about what settings you plan to play in. If you plan to play just with records in the bedroom, or in the garage with friends, or small jams at the local teen hangout, or have a band already started. Also, do you know anything about electronics, soldering, etc. If you do you might be able to investigate some older solutions that might need some work without much risk.

If you must have a half stack look for a used marshall dsl 50.
DSL's can be found pretty cheap used.
I don't know were you live but for cab options I'd look into avatarspeakers.com

Dave Grohl uses Mesa/Boogie btw.

For $600 youll have to buy one at a time. even a beat up 1960A will run over $400.

Randal and Beringher and a few others make 4x12's for less but i can not attest to their tone and it would still run like $350 or so

no scense in buying crap or something beat up and then having to upgrade or replace it in a few years.

if it were me with $600 if go 2nd hand JCM 900 or DSL 50 watt combo and retube it so it sounds sweet

Dave Grohl does use Mesa for his distortion sounds, but uses Vox for his cleans. That will be hard to duplicate on a low budget.

One very cheap solution to consider as an interim measure until the money situation improves is to continue to use the Rogue amp and get something like a Bad Monkey pedal in front of it to get your distorted sounds.

I think this article hits some good points for the guitarist on a budget:

Soldering is a usual job for me. I can wire etc.

Truthfully I admit to having G.A.S.
But I guess I dont need a halfstack I could go for a good combo but
I was looking into those black hearts
I thought they would be alot more expensive and I love the tone.
I really liked that it was a tube for $200ish

But i'd like at least 30-50 watts.
I'll probably build my own cab. I'm into gaining experience for myself.

Id just need a good head. I might go second hand as well.
I love the marshall tone.

But I don't care about a label as long as its going to satisfy my tone.

I'm not looking to replicate Dave or chris's tone. But my songs kinda have a feel of what they write i should say. but I'm at a stage in my playing where I'm good and i can play lead guitar and improvise, I'm just not a GREAT or fast player. Rather play with feeling than fast.

As far as gigging there is a local production company that puts together shows of local bands. Theyll range from inside small club settings to outdoor festivals.

I'm in and out of bands because theres not to many musicians where I live that share a similar music taste. Screamo is dominant in the area.
I've got a decent group put together now I'd imagine we could start gigging in about a month if we practiced more.

I think I've got a good potential solution for you sitting in my basement. Its a Traynor YBA-4 amp - similar to a Marshall Plexi in design and layout, great old transformers, and in a combo format with one 15 inch speaker. Its LOUD. Its a vintage non master volume amp, so to get the crunch at a volume useable for practice you'd also need an attenuator, or use a pedal to get your distortion sounds. I hadn't mentioned it before because I've suspected its more amp than you really need. I like it, but I have too many amps and need to thin the herd, so if you're interested PM me. More info on this amp at: Velvet Black - Traynor Tube Amps - History, Models, Dating, Links, Information, Amp Maintenance, Opinions, Pictures
Here's a useful link if you decide to build your own speaker cab (I think the most useful is a 1X12 cab overall):
Shavano Music Online - Do It Yourself Construction Articles
Scroll down to the speaker cab link.
I would suggest looking for vintage amps like Traynor, Sano or other lesser known brands that are still of good quality construction at a good price. The downside is if it has a problem you have to know (or learn) how to fix it. The upside is they're simple circuits and usually with a few resources not to hard to learn to work on (that in itself has become part of the fun of guitar for me).
