I think that you should just ignore this all together and just wait for a real buyer.

1,000% agree! I deal with this type of thing every day in my job (I investigate financial crimes). I wouldn't respond AT ALL. Some times what these jackasses will do if they think you are wise to them is send you a lovely virus or malware in one of their emails. I can tell you some stories but it would take hours.

Being investigated for interstate fraud.
Federal agents took my computer, the check, and other stuff.

Update. Like any good cub reporter, you have to follow up.
I called the bank, it's in Flawidda. Gave the nice woman the account
number, guess what? it's empty.
Her advice was to report it to the FBI.
That's what I want, my name getting mixed up with an internet scam
and the FBI.

Nigerian Scams - 419 Scam Information

I read somewhere that 90% of internet scams come out of the country of Nigeria. A guy I used to work with got caught in one. He ended up mailing a laptop to Nigeria (it was a crappy laptop and he was only selling it for 200$). The shipping fee cost him 70$. I ended up giving one of them my phone number and address. Then they replied with the whole "i will send my assistant to come get it and they will drop off a check for 50$ more than what you're asking"... I knew it was a scam right then and told them cash only. Never heard from them again. Fucking thieves. Thieves deserve death by firing squad. No exceptions.

Yea, thanks 40 minutes after the envelope came so did the FBI.
I spent 48 hours in custody. 22 being questioned. Home computer was seized. It took a lawyer to bond me out and release my phone.
You owe me an explanation.
By the way they took the check too.
