he'll pay an extra $50.

In a nut shell, I'm sitting on a check for $2,500 drawn on a bank I have not
researched, nor plan too.The sig is illegible.
An anxious scammer, who won't give me his number.
I reported this to my local PD, a detective who couldn't have cared less.
I used my work address which is a small high rise.

Should I have a fake attorney email him and say that I died, and all my assets
are frozen?
Tell him I'm in the hospital, I need an organ transplant?

Dice, if you read this you know what this scam is all about, they want my checking account #. Or for me to deposit and Western Union the differential back to him.
Never looked at the item, no phone contact. Incredibly unavailable.
I think I'll keep this fish on the hook for awhile.

A friend of mine was selling a Jeep on CL and took a guy for the exact same ride you did. It was funny and very interesting to see. That is the EXACT same thing that happened to me (same email, word for word), and when I called out the guy as a scammer, he threatened to "kill me"! I didn't take any chances, so I filed a PR. After all, the dude DID have my address!

I have a Cartier bracelet on CL for sale and have had every F%$king scammer coming out of the wood work to rip me off ! Using the mover is a staple along with the standard, "Is the item still for sale ? If so, Pull your ad and i'll throw you an extra hundee" all in broken english. The B.S. sceniro's these scum would come up with sometimes provoked me to respond but now it's old and not worth my time.
