Quite simply, Keef wrote the most recognisable, catchiest, most imitated, greatest riffs in Rock'n'Roll history. Piss on those chips if you dare!:thumb:

Keef is my main rhythm inspiration. The Keef/Mick Taylor era Stones is one of my all time favorites and I absolutely love Exile to death, and Sticky Fingers too but Exile is my fav.

Just yesterday I was running through the rig getting the tone to "Brown Sugar". Bridge pickup on a Tele, 5-string (GDGBD) tuning, Way Huge Red Llama pedal (emulates a cranked Fender Tweed Champ/Deluxe amp and that tone), and my old '68 Fender Super Reverb amp set clean (as I always run it). Instant Sticky Fingers-Exile Fender Keef tone. It was pretty sweet! The Red Llama is the sh!t for those Tweed tones in a pedal. I've tried lots of them but it's the real deal. Great for Tom Petty/Neil Young/Eagles stuff too. They just reissued it and I prefer the reissue over the clones I've tried. The reissue sounds like the original I played through. Very fat on the low end, articulate/bright on the high end.

I've always preferred the Tele/Tweed combo for Keef, even over the Gibson/Ampeg combo. I was cool when he made the switch, where as I am mad Clapton switched from Gibson/Marshall to Fender/Fender. Keef's best tone is with the Tele and that bridge pickup through a raunchy Tweed Champ/Deluxe (studio) and Twin (live) IMO.

Why is it that every time I glance at the title of this thread I think to myself, "well, good for you Mr. Fezziwig, good for you"?

Joe you are right. Keef needs a Tele. I want a Red LLAMA. you can NEVER have enough texture.:thumb:
I had one of the basses in the mid 70's they
are realy cool! you can slide different pickups in them
without having to unscrew anything or solder.
they sound great also, necks to die for
Cold I will own one someday. I like the idea of playing a perspex guitar. They sound DAMN good.
Thank you, Tim. I believe I've finally found the signature quote I've been searching for.
Penny I'm honoured. ENJOY!:applause:

Keef is my favorite guitarist. "Brussels Affair", to me, confirms his greatness as a rhythm guitarist.
