Tim Fezz here at my chipped table FEELING HIGH! I just listened to THE ALBUM>Exile on Main Street. Keef >Yes I call him Keef> is a FORCE! Mick T is a wonderfull guitarist ,fluid and bluesy. Keef is NATURE unleashed. Chunka Chunka! Slouched and besotted. Missing chords and slashing JUNKO fills. How many Mick Taylor shirts do you see in the world?

I started playing guitar in 1980. It was VERY hard back then. No tabs and videos to teach you. I listened to vinyl and watched sputtering VHS tapes. Watching Keef taught me ATTITUDE goes a long way. Why play flawlessly? It doesn't even sound good. Slash away at an open-tuned guitar. Be a Monkey Man. Slightly out of tune guitars sound FANTASTIC! R+R is ALL about sour chords.

Last night I played along to Get Yer Ya Yas out. I plugged my 74 custom into my 1969 Ampeg VT22. I missed chords and botched leads. IT WAS PURE! Keef is the GOD of nonchalance. Tired eyes and fancy scarves. A slouched shaman of the open tuned guitar. People get on Keef for his simplicity. They say Stones songs are easy to play. WRONG! Stones songs are about subtlety. They are easy on paper. To play them right you have to invest in them. Long Live King Keef! RIP THIS JOINT!

Exile on Main Street..gotta be one of the best ever rock albums. Keef is one of a kind, to be sure. I am amazed that he is still f'n alive, actually he looks better now than he did 30 years ago. So it's Keefadelphia, for today then, eh Tim?:thumb:

Yup, "Keef" is Rock 'n Roll personified. :dude:

He's a poet, a riff-master, and a philosopher, but as you said, he's also "NATURE unleashed"!

Keith's comment on the matter? "A Telecaster is a damned good club." :laugh2:

It's not about playing the riffs verbatim, it's the subtle nuances, the "half played" chord, the drag that is so hard to emulate. The "couldn'tgiveaf*ckedness" of it all. Eat shit fanboys and practice!

Keef and Ronnie Wood were smacked out at Ronnie's place in NYC. That c*nt Bob Dylan turns up and needs a favour. Next thing they know they're on the stage at Live Aid, two addled junkies trying to play "Blowin' in the wind". Bob ain't happy so it's worth a watch!!

:laugh2: I don't have sound right now, but Ronnie looks like he keeps forgetting where he is.

Ronnie is still one of the best rock Bassists I have ever
heard, he should have stayed with the bass, his early
work with Beck was really great.

Wow, I never knew he played bass. I like his guitar stuff with Faces. Lotta great music from that band that is often overlooked these days.

Yea the first two Jeff Beck records, he was
really good kind of sounded like a cross between
Entwistle with soul.
As a guitarist he is Meh....

I got REALLY into the STONES Around 1980. I was 14 and was into Classic Rock. I bought all their albums. I read about Keef in Creem magazine. He was different from the other guitarists I had gotten into. He seemed more REAL to me. There were TONS of myths surrounding him. They were 'interesting" ,but it was his playing which told me ALL I need to know about the man.

My first Stones album was Hot Rocks. ALL THE HITS! What textured and muscular playing. I loved the fact that Keef played behind the beat. I didn't know about open tunings then but I knew Keef's guitars sounded different>hollow and menacing. What days they were. I would come home from school and DREAM rock.

2012 and I sit here at my chipped table. TIRED! Another 24 hour shift. The thing I now admire the MOST about K is his stamina. Life just keeps beating you up. The things he has done to his body and mind are AMAZING.

I love watching him play. Hunched over his Tele like some ghoul. His clawed hand banging loosely. Guitarists bag on K. He is sloppy. He can't write anymore. GET REAL. K has acomplished SO much. He wrote Satisfaction. Just think about that. Wow. Imagine writing that? And about 30 more STONE COLD CLASSICS. Can't You Hear Keef Knocking?

Keef/Exile on Main Street was half the reason I picked up the guitar

This is one of my favourites (from the 2010 bonus disc)
