I`ve been trying to cope with this but I`m not feeling any better.
It`s damn near impossible to talk about without me crying my eyes out.
Maybe typing it here will help in the long run. Maybe not.
Scooby was my best friend.
Long haired Chihuahua.
Heart of gold. Always by my side.
Sat at the door 15 minutes before I was due home.
View media item 108118He was always so happy.
He was a rescue and went through hell before he joined our family.
3 broken legs, teeth removed, broken ribs and only 3 lbs.
He overcame everything and gained weight to a healthy 7 lbs.
Cheese was his favorite.
10 days ago he lost the use of his hind legs completely. They were always weak.
His head drooped to one side and he didn`t eat a thing for 3 days.
He apparently suffered a stroke.
The Dr was examining him and he suffered another stroke in the office.
We knew it was time.
My sister called me at work to let me know. When I was paged I knew what it was.
It was what needed to be done.
I was not there and did not get to say goodbye.
I could not ask for him to suffer until I could get there.
I know it was what was best for my little boy, but that doesn`t make it hurt any less.
Here he is doing what he enjoyed most, napping.View media item 108119
And here guarding my guitar with full guard dog attitude(he THOUGHT he was a Rottweiler).View media item 108120I am not looking for sympathy or anything really. I just needed to do this hoping it helps me deal with it.
Goodbye my sweet little boy.
I love you.

Sorry to hear that man. Dog's are priceless. There's a special bond between human and dog. I'm constantly amazed at how expressive dogs can be with their comparatively limited vocabulary.

Great animals, we're lucky we get to spend time with them.

Sorry for your loss. The worst thing about having pets is that we generally outlive every one of them. Which means having to say goodbye to them at some point.

That was a nice little tribute above. You did the right thing in what is never an easy situation. Rest in Peace little buddy.

Sorry for your loss.

I feel your pain. It's hard when you have to make that discussion for them.

I just went thru that some months back. My heart goes out to you. It is so painful. Get another dog. Mine is a rescue dog. Man it helps tremendously. I had about 4 days, before i just had to do something.
When you feel more in control, go get another dog. I still have my dog's collar hanging on my bed post. That helps too.
Best of luck.

Yep. I lost my fav little companion last summer. I know it's no consolation....I loved my cat so much. Like your dog, she greeted me at the door, walked with me to the door when I left and sat with me whenever I was home. It does get a little less painful.

C, terrible news. Go get another pet soon. My lizard, Sow Sow died 12 years ago, my wife knew I would go into deep depression. The next day we went and got Sabu, the sorrow turned to joy.

I've been to three funerals in the past six weeks.

Two family members and a friend.

Sad days, yes.

However their lives didn't depend on me 365 days a year from start to end.

My dogs have.

And in return they taught me more than I could of ever taught them.

Tough days, lots of tears, us dog people understand.

Take care.

You done great giving scooby a place with your family. Losing Scooby is losing a part of your family. Take your time to grieve. Take care. At these times you you wish they would get as old as you do.....
