Does a Junior count?

Specs say "slim taper" but its beefier than my Flying V and less beefy than my LPC.

I think in 2018 they just used the small '61 style guard on the Standards instead of the big batwing guard.

2013 to 2015 too. I had one in classic white that I tried to make look like a Custom.

Sold it because I didn’t get along with the 60s neck. Kinda wish I’d kept it though. I play on some slimmer necks these days (Mustang, Jazzmaster).

SGs were my firsts. First guitar was an epiphone player pack and my first ‘nice’ guitar was a faded special.

I really like them a lot but for some reason when I started gravitating towards Les Paul’s I just kind of stuck with them. I don’t know what I prefer about them over the SG, nothing comes to mind when I think about it but there’s gotta be something.

All this talk about necks, I only have the one to go by but it’s very comfortable. It seems slim front to back, but has big wide shoulders.

I had a 2015 that I hated the neck on, that was the year Gibson did that weird super wide string spacing.

The SG is one guitar I've never owned. No real reason I guess I've always liked them well enough. I've even said to myself; 'Self, you gotta find a nice SG' but it never comes to fruition.

About a year ago I was in one of the local guitar shops and there was a used SG I was considering. I walked out with a Gibson Custom Shop Firebird III reissue. Talk about a hard right turn. :laugh2:

It's a giant thing measuring in at 6'-2" overall length. When you strap it on and stand up you automatically knock over two lamps. In the next room. The first three frets are so far down the neck they land in another time zone where it get's dark two hours earlier so supplemental lighting is a must. All that being said, It's one of my favorite guitars and it shouldn't be because it's challenging to come to terms with.

Still sounds freaking great.

And of course SGs R Us.

Come to think of it, almost all the bands that I was in that had two guitar players, the other guy played an SG.

Have the original SG LP. One owner 1961 Standard,I bought new in November 1961. It is a case queen now, as it has two problems (IMHO). First, it has the side pull trem, which anchors the strings at what passes for a tailpiece into a spring loaded device. This sucks tone. I would get rid of the trem, but this guitar has acquired collectors value as is, and I don’t want to disturb that. Second, I feel that the body lacks the mass needed to get my preferred tones at low volumes, at which I always play these days. Oh, at mid-size venue volumes it sounds great, as the amplified sound seems to energize the body into incredible tone and sustain. Actually, I suspect that Gibson included that trem, in part, to reduce neck dive that some SGs have, as it is a heavy device at the rear bout. Actually, I think that an SG with an ABR bridge and brass TP, and with a maple cap might be the perfect solid body guitar. I wish Gibson would make an SG like that, but it doesn’t. PRS comes close, and thus my PRS is my “go-to” guitar.
