I'd be happier with MY poker chip if I could just find one that didn't look like it came from an orthotics factory. I hate that color.

Poker chipless for sure. except on a custom. Naked, just the way I like them. Guitar porn at its best!

I'd rather have an ugly guitar that sounds good, than one I would look at, more than play.
I'm more concerned with cleanliness, (first thing I notice is the bridge, clean or dirty)
(Next thing would be clean strings, gauge, action, intonation.)
I don't like Cherry Burst guitars at all. I once waked into a store. Mgr was holding a Cherryburst Les Paul. Handed it to me as I walked in. Right away I liked the neck.
Plugged in. Fell in love with the tone. Walked out with an ugly cherryburst Les Paul.
I wasn't even there to look at guitars. Time to buy it is when you see it.
That guitar found it's way on to nearly every recording I did after that for the next 10 years or so.
Was way too heavy for me to gig with. Finally sold last year/

Without the poker chip there is no way of telling if you are playing rhythm or treble.
I've tried it many times and without the poker chips it's a complete mystery.
Even with the poker chip it's a mystery what happens when the switch is in the middle position.

I like it, kind of helps tie in the look of other plastic bits like the pickup rings, though the guitars don't necessarily look bad without the chip. Looks cool on SG's, too, IMO.

Studies have shown that the poker chip is responsible for at least 85% of your tone.
