Ryan, you just need to play your guitar more. You need to actually use it to write some songs. Simple as that. Enter the MLP contest too. :D

...........and build some pedals and occupy your mind. Work on your new place, put in a vegetable garden. It may sound naff but growing things is good for the soul and you have all the room in the world!

Brilliant conclusion by our fine, MLP friend - Mr. Bling.

I have not partied (smoke/drink) since college days. I've gotten "high" watching my kids grow up. I've gotten a "buzz" by learning how to play guitar over the past three years. I've gotten "ripped" when my friends tell me they liked the new song I wrote. I've gotten "stoned" while listening to an old rock n' roll band, or a new one with a great sound. I still get "smashed" when the old lady wants to get frisky.

Take your new realization, and build upon it - one day at a time.

there isn't one.

there are reasons, just not good ones...

i can tell you every reason one might think of to drink, i came up with them for years on end... i lied to myself and everyone else around me about why i drank. truth be known there are a lot of "social drinkers" that are in fact alcoholics. they just haven't figured that out yet... since i took on the name "alcoholic" almost 3 years ago ive only drank (relapsed) a few times, all in the past few months.... yet these "social drinkers" get drunk every week...

alcohol had done all but kill me

jails, institutions, and death... ive experienced 2 on more than one occasion, id like to put the 3rd one off until its time for it to happen naturally.

its fucxking hard being a recovering alcoholic at times... your drug of choice is for sale at every market and gas station, and not only that its socially acceptable!

Just dont build unneeded judgements against others, remember that some can drink without trouble like ours, and resentments are the number 1 killer of every alcoholic.
I was thinking the same thing and couldn't agree more. This is especially true in the early days of recovery when the obsession is most heavy. :)

I like a cerveza once in a while, but not every person can only have one. Mr. Al, I wish you good luck.

You guys know I like to have a Mickey's on occasion.
For some one drink is too many, and a hundred is not enough.

That is the whole point, if you can't have a beer without it controlling you then don't drink. Then don't skydive, definitely don't have sex, and absolutely avoid an amazing concert that makes you want to go nuts. Don't love a woman so much you can feel it. Don't go for a ride down a twisty road, don't watch a scary movie don't do anything, because they all create a chemical sense of euphoria different than your baseline condition. Watch Sally Jesse Rafael and be your judgemental self. I hope bling gets himself straight, but you don't have the right to judge anybody, and you are a pretentious holier than thou fool if you think you do. :dude:

This response does not belong in this thread. You are way off line and this has nothing therapeutic to aid someone who is dealing with an addiction and recovery. If you drink and are ok with that then fine, but take it off of a recovery thread, we don't need to hear you defend your decision.

Sure I will if he wants, I have no problem with that. It was directed at TOMMYTHUNDERS who said he judges every single person that drinks beer, and reinforced some bad feelings. I didn't think that was good advice at all. It will make bling bitter and hateful towards all of the people that can drink, when he just needs to accept he can't, that's all. I don't see how telling someone something they want to hear and not what they need to hear is good. It's like all those people that told Jeff woman were bitches and whores and F(*& them all because he was heartbroken, how is that good advice in dealing with relationships:rolleyes:. But if bling wants me to delete it I will, no problem. Read the post I was responding to, it will make more sense. Bling, just PM me if you want it gone and it'll be done.

i honestly dont want to see, hear about, read about, be around, think about being around, think about thinking about being around, have anything to do with alcohol, those who consume alcohol, alchol sales, alcohol in general, anything to do with alcohol right now... i have a lot more wrong with me than alcholism alone, please for the fucxking love of god try and have some respect for me at the very weak moment in my life, if you want to tell me yada yada yada blow it out your ass save it for later when im strong but NOW IS NOT THE TIME... please dont take this personal but right now i have to do what is GOOD FOR ME... i dont want to worry about being understanding or accepting of others at the moment, i want to learn how to fuxcking stay sober in these early critical days. if you guys keep bringing this shit up i will surely get bitter and be at risk to drink again.

this is the insanity of the disease... even though i have had that AH HA moment i spoke of in the OP, even though i know drinking will only end in dissapointment with me, even though alcohol has damaged my heath, put me in jail and caused many emotional problems, i still get the urge to drink.
