Put the tailpiece to the wood and top wrap! Or thread through the tailpiece if the strings are super light.

My strings were threaded through the tailpiece, but after noticing the big angle from bridge to the tailpiece, I decided to try raising the tailpiece a lot, for me anyway. I again threaded the strings through the tailpiece, ah yes, they were more slinky when I looked at/tried my gitbox afterwards. Even so, my tweak bug and powers of observation continued... and... I could just as well top wrap than monkey with the tailpiece.

I will gain mo mojo with the tailpiece against the top.

My guess, is that

You only put your strings to a big bend to mess with your tone. Just lift stuff up for the same deal.

Being able to snug the tailpiece down improves transmission of vibration and is a tonal plus; don't let anyone tell you otherwise. A large % of LPs allow for this without having the string angle become so sharp that the strings contact the back of the bridge. In this configuration, top wrapping is a matter of personal preference, and there are thousands of posts about the supposed effects that result. The best thing to do is to try it and decide for yourself, since the reports conflict so much and many are nonsensical. I do like it myself on some of my guitars, and it was the original design, so don't let anyone tell you that it's a wacky fad. If the string angle with the tailpiece snugged down is such that the strings rest on the back of the bridge, I would definitely top wrap to avoid that problem, and consider this preferable to jacking the stop bar away from the body, as a big loss of contact results. If you play w/ lots of gain or pedals, ignore all of this, as that negates any of these modest tonal differences. Again: try it and decide for yourself.
