Tim T here at my gateleg table. It is 11:01 am EST.I have been awake for 53 minutes. My mind is still clouded. I had a very musical dream last night. Most of my dreams have music and art. I often dream I'm in some rural area. I'm a painter. I go into a gothic structure and row after row of my paintings are hung on the stone walls. Mostly allegorical stuff. Where did all these original paintings come from? My mind? They are DAMN good paintings. I'm not that good a a visual artist. I'm ART BRUT! I believe they are visions of alternate realities? Who knows they are very entertaining.
Last night I was TIRED! Long +draining week. I worked 80? hours. CRAPPO sleep. NO SLEEP! Fun Stuff. Very tiring though. I've been writing GREAT posts lately. My mind is SOFT and pliant. Rock Dream stuff. Split-narratives. People get DRAINED reading them. That is important. This is a heady brew. Is it real? Fiction? Confession? I prefer confession. I love to confess. My one,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,That is a whole other thread. The art of confessing.
VENT VENT SPLEEN SPLEEN! So I'm Beat. I'm watching Dark Shadows and I'm nodding. Dark Shadows is a goth soap opera from 1966-1971. Jonathan Frid plays BARNABAS<THE VAMPIRE> Moody stuff. So I go to DREAMLAND!
I'm in some Edwardian? Land. I walk in a meadow. There are green and purpled mists. I see a a man seated playing a guitar. I'm viewing it from behind. It is a Gibby type headstock. I stand watching his back as he plays a SWEET chord progression? To my ear I would say a minor dirge. Lilting and twill. I'm interested in the chords. He stops playing.
He turns around. His face is unformed or blocked out in my mind? He probably looks like Jimmy Page? Brian May? Cookie Boy? Some mysterious Brit.
I ask him" What chords were they?"
He looks at me.
Then I hear the chord structure inside my DREAM MIND. Way too complex for me?
I say "Just show me. Theory is NOT my strong point"
He laughs and he shows me his guitar.
It is alot like Jeff Beck's Oxblood. It has P90's in it. Old style slant tailpiece. I LOVE IT!He fingers the chords. Cm---What ? It makes no sense. I'm hearing GHOST notes everywhere? He hands me the guitar.
"You play it"
Now even in my dreams I'm a hack. I play Sunshine of Your love> I play it very well. We don't even have an amp? I'm playing a DREAM Amp. I'd say it sounded like a PLEXI! Nice bloom.
I hand the guitar back to Jeff?JimmY? whoever it is.
He then breaks all the strings. New strings appear.
He plays a monstrous progression? Very bassy? Almost like Vanilla Fudge but HEAVIER!
The scene shifts. I'm in a Garden. There is an acoustic? Matin D28? I pick it up. I play THE SECRET PROGRESSION. I sound ....
Sorry narrative break. I have to get the tea kettle. Alright black tea is steeping.
Where was I? the BS gets SO THICK? Oh yeah!
So I left the mage guitarist with the BADASS Lp 1954? Oxblood +P90's.
I'm going to recreate that guitar. Thanks dream guitarist. I Love OXBlood.
I'm in a garden with a Martin acoustic D28? I sit down and play it. I PLAY THE SECRET CHORD PROGRESSION! IT STINKS! I get disgusted. I then play You Gotta Move. I always jam on that>even in my dreams>
The guitar Mage reappears with his Oxblood. He comes over to me.
I tell him the SECRET CHORD PROGRESSION STINKS! I hand him the acoustic. He plays THE SECRTET CHORD PROGRESSION! It does stink.
He laughs. "You didn't really think I would give you the SECRET CHORD PROGRESSION did you?
I say "Yeah why Not. I showed you how I play Sunshine"
He then plays a BLISTERING solo.
It sounded like Scotty Moore gone mad. Pure R+R. Actually Rock-a-Billy. WOW . GUTBUCKET!
He goes to hand me the guitar. I decline. I don't have half the riffs.
The sky turns cloudy. We depart. He waves and says
"I've been playing guitars forever. I also have the dream guitar. keep at it you'll be good someday"'
"You are THE BEST. I love your Oxblood P90 . Take care>>>>>>>>>>>>.
The last lead you ripped was unbelievable. You sounded like Scotty Moore"
I then woke-up. It was a decent dream. What did it mean? Well I would say I need a Beck-like Oxblood w/p90's. I need to go back to the"roots" of R+R and listen to more Scotty. Also I need to learn some Nick Drake so the next time I'm handed an acoustic in a dream I can play something "exotic"> I love Sunshine of your Love and You gotta Move>>>>I think the Dream guitarist wanted to hear me play something less percussive? I don't know. I'm not that worried about it. I'll learn the Black Swan for our next Dream jam.
