Sadly not. Lots of crazy stuff happened right when I got here. The guy (my uncle) I was supposed to go fishing with turned into my aunt. Naturally, my actual aunt is in the middle of a divorce. Such is life. But I am interested in taking up some fishing. I live very close to Sebastian where the fishing is said to be amazing. I see people fishing right on the beach here. Some guy had a pole in the retention lake right behind my house the other day.

Well, when it's time, stick to the known established brands - Abu Garcia, Daiwa, Penn. You'll want at least 1 boat rod and reel, 1 baitcast rig, and 1 spinning rig. And 1 surf or jetty rod and reel. And watch put for the sea gulls, they are big bait stealers.

IF any of you are even borderline in some kind of position to retire, do it and do not look back. I couldn't imagine how good my life would get after not waking up and punching a clock every day. Get the hell out of the rat race if you can. Play lots of guitar (advice I should take because I do not). Have fun. Every day you work you are giving your life to someone else. I was addicted to the money but in hindsight, it was not worth it.
Damn. Thanks Joey, the universe is talking to me. I sat down with the wife on Sunday and worked on exit plan. Accumulating a pile is all good, no serious barriers, but the actual exit - it's time to get serious about.

If the math maths, there is a much better life on the other side of work. There are many hidden savings in not working such as:
No more social security tax
No more commute (was 600 a month to get to work)
Other savings depending on your unique circumstances.

I actually feel alive now and I’m living life instead of living to work. That has no price.

A big one is not having to buy overpriced cafeteria food every day. That adds up faster than you realize. AND you are officially now in a lower tax bracket. You figure how much working costs you, and then calculate how much you WON'T be paying out in SS, deductions, taxes, fees, expenses. When the take-home matches, that's your retirement date.

Maybe there will be street food carts where Joey lives so he'll feel at home... If not, he can hit one of the nine gillion Taco Bells for a good blow out....

Yup! I was spending 20 a day at least eating at work.

In the South, you can find some of the best food on the planet....at a freaking gas station....

Biscuits the size of your fist.... Every kind of sausage....Eggs... Breakfast from hell... Whole catfish, filets, fried chicken to die for, etc. etc. etc.... and a lot of times it'll be a couple of grannies back there cooking it too....

There is a gas station in a neighboring town that especially Sunday after church, you can hardly find a place to park....and it is on a HUGE corner lot all concrete over an acre. They'll sell more food (including real smoked BBQ) than gas.... Lunch time you'll see the vehicles that show you where to eat in a town... UPS, FedEx, USPS, Sheriffs, PD, City Services trucks, etc....

Folks up north think 'gas station food' is a joke or just an old wives tale... Hell no.... Damn good food...always fresh.... Sell more sausage/steak/ham/bacon biscuits in places than McDonalds/Hardee's/etc...... Tip off is when you drive by around breakfast or lunch and the parking lot is full but hardly anybody is at the gas pumps... Good food there...

I bud I grew up with is a multimillionaire now because his dad hit on that idea in our region many decades back. He had a gas station and a small local oil company selling bulk oil to dealers/stations for oil changes, etc., etc... Small.... Anyway, he put a kitchen section in his station and started with breakfast and lunch stuff... It took off on a grand scale.... He had folks that were real cooks behind the counter, not some dipshit teenager. Long story short, he had a chain of gas stations with hot food lines all over the area.... One of the chains bought my bud out after his dad passed on....
