Take a standard '68 reissue Custom with the 3-color finish (which really isn't a reissue of anything from '68), strip it, route for a 3rd humbucker, and then refinish it with non-plasticized nitro in the Brockburst or Africanburst color scheme. Just assume that the pickups are being replaced with primo boutiques and the luthier is top-notch.

Would it be worth more afterwards?

I guess it depends on what someone would be willing to pay... It wouldn't be worth more to me.

I can't see refinishing this baby...

There it is again! :laugh2::laugh2:

I can't see adding a middle pickup either..

Now, for this one...

It would certainly make it more attractive. I'm not a fan of the "black eyeliner" burst. This was just too good of a guitar to pass up. The first one has it all, IMO.

Nice one, Bole!

As for value, I think no matter what, you're going to lose money. It'll never be worth what you put into it, financially.

It's like buying a Ford Mustang and dropping a 383 Stroker motor. You'll never get the amount of money back that you put into it...nowhere near.

Truthfully, I'd probably use that against the seller. "Well, it's nowhere near original and won't be worth a damn later on down the road. I'll give you $750." :naughty: :laugh2:

I would tend to agree with Bole on this one, but you may get some different advice from a seasoned collector.

If it were me contemplating on what you're looking at doing, I'd do it in a heartbeat to a nice Epi or Epi Elitist. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised at the results. :dude:

Using that one pic as a color example, I'm talking about going from this...

I would probably pay more in that case, yes. It would be stunning! The eyeliner burst would be worth more to ME with those upgrades.

I'm going to just guess - I doubt you'd get back what you put into it. It still has the 'base' price.
