Full disclosure. I bought the 64 SR after the 79 stopped working but before sending it for the re-cap/work. While waiting the 4-5 months for the 79 I certainly had enough time to decide which of the two I would be keeping. I had the tech take care of all the common age related issues whether or not they were currently an issue.

While money is useful, I also (and possibly more importantly) need to free up some space.

Also please remember this is Canadian Dollars.

This rant is less about whether or not I've asked an appropriate price (dependant on area) but rather about waiting 49 hours to ask questions already pre-answered right in the ad.

This is how you get a person to go from willing to spend a couple hours of time (and gas) to deliver something to not even wanting to talk to you.

IMO "Wilful Ignorance" is a tactic to suss out who's desperate to sell and or annoy people into bending just to be done with you.

I don’t know, I usually expect conversations like this if I’m selling on Craigslist or FB marketplace

Lol. This was be FB Marketplace so I guess we're saying this is typical?

I usually use Kijiji. So far I've found Marketplace to be so full of scammers. I'm not even sure why I bother.

This might be why I don’t sell gear.
Yeah. I used buy and sell a lot. I met a lot of great people and very few deals went south.

The last decade had seen the buying culture just go to shit. We all know what this stuff is new and we all know what is a reasonable used price in most cases. But if you can't brag about stealing something from an idiot, I guess there's no reason buy it.

The problem is.... I keep buying shit and then don't want the hassle of selling it. Now I have somewhere around 10 large amps and a currently unknown number of guitars (I'll say 40 because I think that's close).

I wasn't lying with that buyer when I said having this much stuff is silly. I'm sure a serious buyer will come and I'm not in a rush.

Methinks thou worrieth too much.... You answered, move on from the first answer as it is still for sale at that point. Watch the clock for nobody.

It is not personal, it is business. You don't have to be double first buddies with him. You are selling. He MAY be buying. That is where it ends.

People are gonna people. A vid is not a big issue as you can add it to the listing so others can hear it.... It is for sale until the chippies be laying in yo biscuit grabbers and not before.

Somebody enquires, answer them. Go out of your way for just THAT/ANY particular individual, nerp....

People are gonna people and full blown Bufords are gonna Buford...

I heard someone say that the best deal is when both people walk away feeling like they just screwed the other guy.

People are gonna people.

Oh, indeed.

I learned on eBay 20 years ago to do a clear and concise description with as much detail as possible.
No bullshit, just the facts.

Then, of course, I get questions from prospective buyers asking precisely what I had already listed in the description.

People gonna people.
Just as @edro wisely observes.

My response?
Without being too passive aggressive?
I would copy the pertinent section out of my description and paste it into the message that I sent back to them, beginning with a statement like, “Yeah, that is covered in the description above. Blah, blah, blah…”

But usually, these people weren’t gonna buy. I’m still going to give them a chance, but it turns out the ones who were only skimming listings are not serious about spending money.

I did the online dating thing, on and off, for a few years. Same bullshit.
Left me shaking my head; I always presumed women would pay more attention to this kind of stuff.
But man, some of them are stupid.

My dating profile would have a lot of information in it. And I would try to inject some dry humor in there.
Sharper women would catch it, and comment on it when they messaged me.
Worked like a charm.

The dumb ones?
Same as selling a guitar.
It was clear to me they didn’t read my profile when they started asking questions about stuff I specifically addressed.

One difference between selling guitars and dating chicks?
I don’t wanna have anything to do with a dumb buyer. They are not worth the trouble.
But I’m still willing to bang dumb chicks.

I could write a newspaper article with a totally bullshit outrageous headline. The body of the article could be 1000 random words that make zero sense.....

In a short amount of time, there will be folks all pissed off about it, folks in total agreement with it, and maybe four that sit there and laugh their assess of at just how stupid those other hundreds of folks are..... The Stupid have the attention span of a fruit fly and only one IQ point to rub together evidently because the headline was mondo ridiculous and the body text was all random words....

Just is. One can laugh, cry, raise hell, whatever, but that does not change the facts... The facts are, many people are evidently stupid and spend most of their lives convincing others of their stupidity...

Just. Is.
