The first thing I look for that was not mentioned was the fret ends. Gibs has binding caps over their fret ends and imports have the fret going over the top.

The OZZROCKER musta had a few too many tokes before he edited the titles in his vid huh? The spelling reminds me of the fake, skammy ebay frauds from China with all the misspelled words. Considering most Gibbys are probably bought online how could a buyer remove pups and wiring covers much less actually handle the guitar in person before buying it? Nonetheless points worth remembering for future reference.
Thats a great video, to tell the truth i saw someone
showing off thier guitar yesterday and saw the
pickup cavity was painted black and thought it was
odd, now i know the guy probably has a fake.....
The pickup cavity on black Gibson is painted black. I have Gibson Studio directly from very reputable dealer (Long and McQuade), and confirmed it with Gibson. They had another one in stock. Looked exactly the same.
STOP LISTING IT AS THING TO CHECK FOR.
Have ever seen the cavities raw?
They are allways painted the same color as the body.
If the body happens to be black - it is black.
If it is white - what color would it be? I have feeling that the cavity would be white too. They don't bother to mask it before painting.
That video that Flick posted at the top was pulled by the user. I think he cleaned up his spelling and presentation and put it here....or he had already copied this one:
