Hi friends
Anyone know how to lighten the shade of fretboard inlays on a reissue? See pic attached where the inlays seem more grayish than usual?

I guess there’s no product to “whiten” then a bit? I don’t mind yellowing but the prominent grey in there is…?

I don't believe they can be lightened. If you really don't like them they would have to be replaced. I personally think they are quite pretty.

Thats the nature of the product 100%.
You have mottling between more grey and the metallic silver look.....and its wholly random.

Nothing to be done save replacement.....either inlay or guitar.

Go into Photoshop and push the highlights and and mid tones. Due to the white wall your pic is under exposed. In person they probably look great.

Looks like Murphy lab 59s latest inlays look a bit darker then they used to be?

Take some very fine sandpaper. Mask the inlays with tape. Sand the inlays very carefully. Then, take some medium brown shoe polish paste and apply it gingerly to the inlays. :thumb:

Oh, you said lighten.

I thought they were too white. :dunno:

The material isn’t something you can bleach.... and there are a number of places you can get replacements... they are quite easy to remove if you are not going to save them... otherwise I would reach out to a luthier.
