1947 eh? I have a beautiful white 1947 custom. It's yours for 10k. Don't worry about pictures. The guitar's perfect. Deal?

There's a link in the Norlin section regarding the most sought after Les Pauls. Unfortunately for you a white 74 Custom made several of our lists. They are highly coveted! You'll just have to keep vigilant and hope for the best!

First response answered his question. Just a little joke. Nothing personal.

Onto the guitar. Is it a 1949 Lus Pal? You know, the one with the golden valutes? If so, I am definitely interested. Here are pictures of my 1947 custom.

Hi, I have 74 white (ivory/cream) Les Paul Custom that I am contemplating selling. I hate parting with it as I've owned it since the late 70's (second owner) and it has a lot of sentimental value in addition to dollar value, but...I do need the money. I happened to post the following on a different thread yesterday as I am trying to determine what it's currently worth as it seems to be similar (exact?) to Randy Rhoads' LP: "I was hoping someone on this thread could provide some information on my 74 Les Paul Custom. It is a ivory (cream? alpine white?) color with gold hardware. Everything is original. I bought it from the original owner back in the late 70's and haven't changed anything other than the strings. I thought it was odd that most other Les Paul's of the same color and year appear to have black control knobs while mine have goldish knobs. Then I saw pictures of the RR's 74 LP and it looks a lot like mine. Are they the same? (picture attached). I have several other pictures if more detail is needed. Thanks."

There is an ever increasing prevalence of grammar Nazis on this forum.
It’s a bug bear of mine too, but I just accept it’s usually the preserve of petty minded little people with delusions of grandeur and best to be ignored!

Just a little advice, I take it you've never seen/held/played a '74?

A 1974 aged white was also my dream guitar and hankered after one for many years.
I was originally lined up for a Gibson Steve Jones but the deal fell through when the supplier let me down. I looked around and found a beautiful original 74 (non anniversary) white on ebay USA - perfectly worn in, no 'proper' damage, aged creamy color, waffle backs, everything spot on.

The guitar was beautiful to look at but i found it really difficult to get on with playing, mainly due to the toothpick neck - it is tiny, really slim and the body is sooooo ****ing heavy the weight balance is weird. I found my hands tired too quickly due to the thin neck, i'm much more used to 50s shaped fat ones.

Then you've got the T-Top pickups, vintage sounding, thin mid level output - if you're a straight into the amp no effects guy you'll maybe find them lacking and need a bit of a boost.

If at all possible you should go find a 70s Norlin custom and see how it feels in your hands, and on your back, before buying.

SUPER ULTRA LIKE!!!

This is why I ask questions that I surely can get the answers to on google. It's not as often that one gets these kinds of personal answers.

I also feel a lot better about not getting the Budokan Les Paul now...I'm also a big fan of my Studio's 50s Neck...big and fat and perfect for my stubby fingers.

Oh man... the handles broke on the case - sheesh! There goes *half* the value (at least) right there!!!

Well, let me see what I can do...

I've got tree-fiddy on me - wadya say?! :)
