I have this 62 sg, and i cant decide how to restore it. Part of me wants to take advantage of the routing and go dual p90s but restoring it as a jr would be sexy as well. cant decide which pickguard config i like best, small vs big..

I was thinking pelham blue either way. I could always just go full pickguard as well as Hums....

How would you tackle this project?

I'm confused here. The first pic is of a 2-P90 guitar and the second has a humbucker in the bridge.

Besides that, the guitar is in need of some serious TLC. I would go for a conversion back to a Junior, but that's just me. You'd need to glue in a block of mahogany in that horrendous neck position. The good news is that it would be covered by the pickguard.

My suggest at this point would be to consult member BCRGreg, as he is an expert on restoring trainwrecks such as this.

Best o' luck!

I've seen worse. I would go small guard, Pelham Blue Junior. Or Polaris White

Welcome to the forum!

Pelham Blue is THE color for a SG in my opinion. I like the combination of a P90 neck and HB bridge myself. I'm looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with it!

I ended up sending my Jag down to Australia (I graduated law school and had to pay some bills to get my family moved). So, that is where your old neck is at. That was a great guitar...

Again, welcome!

Outside of mine I haven't seen any with that combo... how many have you seen? I'm interested.

Welcome to the forum. Great player you have there !! :thumb: Pelham blue is an excellent choice. I am having a Les Paul refinished in that coulor later this year. I would go with humbuckers, but P 90´are also great, so that depends on what tone you prefer.
Good luck with the project and remember to post pics when it is done !!

Aaah, I'm just talking personal preference - not historically. I don't know of any which were stock in that configuration. I've run it on a few of my guitars, though.

Myself I wouldn`t touch it,, thats PURE mojo from head to toe, if you want a pristine SG you can always buy a back up and use that 1 on the more classic tones.
