Ok, I was just wondering how many of you guys are moving with your Blackstar Club 50 or 100 head and a 412 cab? or any other bigger ones to your gigs?

Having bummps here and there too may be?

I have a club 50H and 412A cab also a ht5r and Ill be live next month soon with Blackstars probably first time here in Bangladesh.

I had a long time with marshalls, Time to know better with the blackies

I just have a Blackstar HT-1 as a bedroom amp. It works great! I can't comment on the bigger ones although I've played an HT-20 I felt sounded decent. They appear to be built as sturdy as other amps. The tolex does seem weaker than on Fenders or Marshalls.

HT1R combo owner here. I've had mine about 2 1/2 years without any problems. I did have to put in a new volume pot due to some scratchy sounds in the original pot. Other than that and replacing the pair of tubes, it has performed up to expectations. It is made in Korea and seems well built. I can truly recommend it as a great sounding home practice amp.

I owned 4 Blackstars total. I didn't give them hard use, but just feeling them and looking at their construction, it seems to me that they are as well-built as any Marshall or Bad Cat that I've noticed. They don't cheap out. The hardware is expensive-like. Using chrome or stainless steel screws instead of regular, using heavy gauge metal screening to protect tubes, which won't bend easily instead of the usual thin stuff. Very nice, strong handles. Little things. And often if a company pays attention to little things, they've very likely paid attention to bigger things. And these things are true even about their little 5 watt.

The guys came from Marshall. They're probably not dummies on how you should build and design amps.

Any tube amp has two significantly weak areas: the tubes themselves and the transformers. Specifically, the tubes can be broken a number of ways, including internally, exhibiting no obvious issues on the outside. Transformers are heavy, and I've seen them bend chassis when put up on end and then taken for a long road trip. They'll do that much more quickly, of course, if you drop the head cabs on end.

Even if the tubes aren't broken, I found I needed to carry a lot of spares (not only for MY amps, but for the idiots in the rest of the band who never considered the fact that they might arrive for a gig with a non-functioning amp, cable, guitar, etc.), not the least of which were tubes. Surprisingly, my amps were pretty durable (I packed them on the trucks/busses/trains/vans/trailers myself and had shock-proof road cases), but the band-mates...not so much.

I've had an HT40 Club for a couple of years and it's been trouble free so far. It's not been banged around though...

The issues I seem to remember reading is more of internal issues rather then construction issues. I've never read about one that just kind of fell apart that I can remember. It seems a few people here and there have had pretty crummy luck with the amp failing.

I think the HT's are great amps. I had both a HT 5 Combo and a HT 1 head. I had really good luck with mine and would have no problem owning them again in the future if the right deal came along.
