I bought my 2014 R8 in washed cherry when I was 29. I'm 30 now.

I got my first Les Paul when I was 16. A crappy Les Paul Firebrand that I still have.

I got my first RI this year, at 46 years old, a 2008 '68 Les Paul Custom Reissue.

I’m 34 and have 2 R7s. A 2001 with a headstock break, and a 2003 that I bought as player grade cause it didn’t have the original case has quite a few knocks and dings. Bought both in the last couple years. I refinished the top on the headstock break to a charcoal frost metallic. I could afford to buy a new/newer historic but I have 4 Les Pauls right now so my next guitar has to be something different. Yet here I am still considering an R8…

I got a R7 Goldie in 1994, so it is pretty old...me, well I'm older.

If I could stop buying project vehicles/building engines/drivetrains, I could have a few decent reissues owned in cash. Been looking for the right R8 for about a year now, but I also just finished an engine for my old truck, so it’s been low on the list. I turned 24 in June.

Got my 68RI at 15 (mowing lawns and doing really well in school exams) and my R0 this year at 25.

Currently 26 and eyeing up a Korina V but thinking that'll be from Banker rather than shelling out €10k for the Gibson Custom run.

No joke! I'm almost 39, wife and I have decent jobs, and I still can't afford even the cheapest RI (even used). We also have two children, but even before the kids, I couldn't afford one.

The weird part is, we're really good with money.
It's called Credit Card debt!!!! :)

I'm 49 with a 2020 R0

In 2001 I bought a 2000 R9 for $3250. I was 22 and borrowed money from my dad to afford it. Took ownership on Valentine's Day. I've had a couple other Les Pauls. Sold all the others. The R9 is my only LP and I'll never sell it. I'm 42 now.

Bought my R9 in 2019. Have had a few other brands, including a LP wannabe. The R9 will go to the grave with me.

I am 60. From the time I was 15 until age 50, I usually only owned one electric guitar and one acoustic guitar. There were periods during that time that I owned two electric guitars. Now, if I want something, I purchase it. I just purchased an R7 and an Aztec Gold '61 Custom Shop Hardtail Strat. In many ways, having just one good guitar makes one a better player because one can master that instrument.
Absolutely correct, master one guitar and be intimate with it and you’ll benefit greatly. Unfortunately along the way some of us during our quest for tone and immulation of our guitar hero’s get off track and start to collect instead of playing. I always seem at the end of day to return to my main guitar that works the best for me.

70... do I win anything?
Yes. As of this post, you win second place! (AKA, first loser :) )

71 currently
First electric (and currently), 1967 SG Standard ($300 + $15 for the case).
2- True Historic '60s
1- 60th Anniversary '59
1- 2002 Custom Shop Class 5 Arts & Historic
1- 2021 PRS 594 Single Cut, brazilian board

Sold (and still regret) 1968 Hummingbird
RIP- 1968 SG Jr (broken headstock)

No interest in music as a child or teen until the first Beatle song I heard on the radio lit up a previously dormant part of my brain. Bought a guitar, started learning to play, bought another, and another.
Sat in first row at an Andres Segovia concert (he was 75 at the time) and felt like I should sell my guitars and buy bowling shoes.
Went to Woodstock in '69, spent 3 days with 3 friends about 25 yards from stage. (On the 9 hour drive back home I mulled over what color bowling shoes I should get).
Started college as a music major. Paid my way playing in clubs at night. Left with 2 engineering degrees. (Why? Robert Moog periodically donated equipment to the electronic music department. When things broke, I repaired them. I started spending more time in the engineering department until I switched majors).
Worked in broadcasting for a national network for 40 years, played on the side.
Mangled 2 fingers on left hand, had reconstructive surgery, 4 years before I could start to re-learn how to play (it was not like 'falling of a bike', it was a lot of rehab and hard work and time, nerves had to grow back, but other than the scars, it feels like nothing ever happened now).
