Wow! I owned one guitar when I was 20 years old, a 1977 clown burst Les Paul Custom.

1st Gibson was a new '78 Marauder .

2d a '91 Classic Plus in hot pink (they called it purple but we know they lie...)

1st reissue was a '57 GT in '04.

Gone thru over 30 since currently have 9 all '14 and newer.

I also have an ES335 that I got new in 1987 - my mother bought it for me when I graduated from college. It cost $700 brand new - that seemed like so much money at the time. I read somewhere those ES 335 Dots were Gibson's early attempt at a re-issue of an early 335. The article also said it was, in terms of being a reissue, a terrible job. It's a super nice guitar nevertheless. It has an Ebony fretboard, a thin neck (0.80"/first fret,) and Tim Shaw pickups. It's not a Custom Shop reissue, but (kind of) a reissue regardless. I guess I was 24 when I got that one.

I bought my first Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul when I was 25…just before I got married.

Then, when I turned 29, I ordered a 68RI in Silverburst through the M2M program. I never received my guitar, but I was enraged enough to buy four 68RIs within the following months.

So, I purchased all my Reissues before turning 29. If I could find a 68RI at a fair price, I’d love to buy one right now!!!

I’m 57. Bought first RI (1998 ‘58) in 2017 and my second (2019 ‘59) earlier this year.

I'm 28 and I own a 2018 R7, I was 25 at the time I bought it.
Since then I've acquired a Historic 59 ES-335 and a 57 Historic Jr.
I always assumed I liked boomer guitars, I just bought an ES-295.

I've got my first R7 with 25 and regrettably (from todays point of view) sold it 2 years later. Maybe I was not yet ready for a ressiue since I've had many modern guitars (as far away from a historic as one could be) in the years after that. But I also needed the money at that time so, looking back, I probably could not really afford it at 25 and the financial position I was in back then. I've got my R8 with 36 and it is also the only guitar I currently own and I will probably keep it for a long time.
