I was 20 when I first purchased a custom shop RI back in 2004 it was the slash model with the piezo bridge then followed by an R7 which was tasty as [email protected]£k…. now at 37 with some unfortunate and necessary sells here and there the RI Arsenal stands at…

I consider myself very lucky to be the playing custodian of these beauts for the time being.

I'm 34 as well. I have two reissues (2010 R8 and 2020 R0) and a historic 2018 dc figured.

I bought my first Martin (D-35) when I was 41, first PRS at 42, second PRS at 43 (both Custom 24s), first boutique acoustic (Santa Cruz F model) at 43, my first Gibson Les Paul (Classic) at 46, my first re-issue LP at 52 (a G0) and 5 more LP re-issues since then.
None of this would have been possible if I had not gotten a divorce at 36. My ex liked to spend money before we made it. Once I was single again I was able to save and buy all these toys (and more). I've been happily divorced now for 33 years.
I'll be 69 in 2 months.

The only Historic Gibson I purchased was nine years ago when I was 35. Prices have increased since then. I did buy a used Fender Custom Shop this year, at age 44. It took over a year of looking before I found one I liked at the right price, however.

I started at 39 ish....I'm 57 now ....

Almost 20 years of guitar madness ....

but I've been "Playing" since age 13 ...and my first ever electric was a Sears Les Paul Chery Burst custom copy or whatever....

I started at 12 or 13, I’m 53 now…40 years of playing, I taught both my boys how to play. My first electric was an Aria Pro II Cardinal Series. Was pretty lucky to have a very nice first guitar! I played Fenders and Carvin for years before I got a Les Paul, around 30 back then. My first and only historic when I turned 50.

I'm 34 now, got my first Gibson Reissue last year not long after I turned 33. A used 2007 R9 that is still inspiring to pick up and play even after a year and a half of owning it. I got my first Gibson when I was in high school after saving every bit of cash I could, a 2002 faded SG with the crescent moon inlays that I eventually swapped 57 classics into and I can't imagine ever selling. Couldn't afford another Gibson for 10 years until the LP bug finally got me and I picked up a 2012 LP Traditional that I've modded extensively. I also picked up a LP Jr last year used and the P90 in it is really making me think I need an R4.

You bring up an interesting point… I needed some sort of inspiration at the time and these Les Pauls did it … and still do it!

I am 60. From the time I was 15 until age 50, I usually only owned one electric guitar and one acoustic guitar. There were periods during that time that I owned two electric guitars. Now, if I want something, I purchase it. I just purchased an R7 and an Aztec Gold '61 Custom Shop Hardtail Strat. In many ways, having just one good guitar makes one a better player because one can master that instrument.

I acquired my first Gibson guitar in 1977 when I was 16 via a lot of minimum wage work and help from my parents. It was a 1977 clown burst Les Paul Custom. That thing must have weighed close to 12lbs, but I did not care. I was a 16-year-old kid with a real Les Paul. I sold the guitar in the eighties to buy a Super Strat.
