when i really get into the zone i become an extremely aggressive player, picking hard, i also have a habit of picking a note and going straight into a bend, or going into the bend with the actual picking of the note at the same time... its like i just wanna bend the note all the way off of the neck some times lol, which sometimes results in an end of of my zone experience lol due to the string breaking.... i use 10s, maybe i should step up to 11s? i used to run 11s on my strat for years... i just hate the idea of wearing my frets... i had to get my strat re fretted, i played the snot out of that thing, id run 11s or higher, never anything less than 11s.

I break a string once every few years. I think I am not a very aggressive player. I used to use D'addario XL 110 which hardly ever break. I have been experimenting with nickel strings recently and I broke a the D Fender 150 at band practice a couple of weeks ago. They were overdue a change.

Since I switched to 10s about 8 years ago, never. I honestly haven't broken a single one in all that time. When I used 9s they snapped left and right. :laugh2:

I used to break strings a lot. I started using Big Bend's Nut Sauce to stop the strings from binding with the nut, and keeping the guitar in tune. It also stops me from breaking strings. Now I very rarely break a string.

Actually, it's not too bad at all! I like the added tension.

You should try them out, just for the hell of it. I did one day and never switched back.
And... they should be pure nickel of course!

you know, thinking back... i kinda liked the extra tension... something to push against... sort of how like some race car drivers dont like power steering because they cant feel the road... not the best analogy but it kinda makes sense lol....

Always, last band practice I broke both a B and High E string... Ugh. Good thing I had a spare set of 10s in my pedal board case.
I put graphite in the nut but I still manage to snap strings like it's my job. I'm an extremely aggressive player so I snap them constantly - I think I will try 11s and see if it's rectifies my problem. I have pretty strong hands, I bet I can handle them :)

I used to like the Gibson vintage 11s, only had them break a few times on me. Now I play 13s and I can't break them even when I try, and yeah sometimes I do try.

Last time i burst a string must have been around 2 years ago. I use heavy gauges now though so that's why i never break 'em!

I've been using Ernie Ball 9's for years and have very little problems. It really depends a lot on the brand of string, how often you re-string and of course how aggressive you play. Plus if you are playing professional you really need to re-string a lot more often than if you are just a back room player like me. There are some brands of strings that I have noticed break more easily than others. Good ole Ernies have done me good.

Actually Bling, that is a very good analogy.

5 Years ago - The Croft, Bristol - snapped my B string.

Before that it was probably another 3 years!

I've broken a string 2 or 3 times since 2002. One of those times was at Guitar Center on a dog of a PRS. I'm not that agressive of a player. I had 9's on Fenders for years before moving up. The result has been a lighter touch, despite my having better control of the instrument.

I used Ernie Ball 10s, and I never break 'em. I play pretty hard too. The only time I break one is when I'm stretching them right after changing. But that's just me being an idiot.

I play really hard, but I hardly ever break strings, and I use lights and custom lights most of the time.

I used to break them more often back in high school, but then I learned how to do my own setup and I made some changes to help prevent string breakage and it just doesn't happen very often now. Maybe once or twice a year? I haven't broken one in a while, I'm overdue!

I've broken 3 strings in 12-13 years of playing. 2 were with an Epi LP with a shitty stock nut, the other was on a Jackson.

I actually play more agressively now than I did then and I haven't broken one in three years or more. I also don't have those two guitars though... And 2 of the 3 guitars I play regularly are strung with 9s.
