Recently bought a Friedman Smallbox 50 (pictured below from the store I purchased it from) - sent it to Dave to have him do a few mods - had him add the Wildwood saturation mod, as well as the JBE mod (controlled via a 3-way mini switch on the rear panel) - so now it’s basically 3 amps in one - position 1 is the standard Smallbox, position 2 is the saturation mod which bumps up the gain and compression of channel 2, and position 3 adds the JBE in there for even more gain on channel 2 - also had him add a resonance knob (in place of the line level knob which I’ll never use) which he calls the “thump mod” - this is a global mod that adds some bottom end character to both channels (something this amp was sorely missing in my opinion) - pretty much now my dream amp - Dave is the coolest dude ever - he literally answers emails directly and was super responsive to my questions - only charged me $300 for all of those mods too!

Next on the list is a Friedman 2x12 vintage cab loaded with greenbacks - just reached out to sweetwater for a price quote today.

Bought a Mesa vertical 2x12.... sounds huge like a 4x12 but smaller and lighter. I used a orange 1x12 for past 5 years and finally found a good deal on a 2x12. Had no idea they made these until i came across it and happy i did.

I agree 212 stacked vertically, gives a much more, user friendly air dispersion, for someone who is used to a 412.

I was gonna say it's sad, but it's really not sad, just different. Life's what you make it, right?

I'm just in a place in my life at the moment where I can't make as much noise at my house as I used to. There are work-arounds, though.

The best sounding improvement I made this year has to be my Sony Professional studio monitor headphones. They were only a hundred bucks, and they sound as good as the best phones I've ever used. Incidentally, I have tried others at more than twice the price on numerous occasions. Lots of great choices out there, but you don't have to spend $500.

At any rate, playing is always more fulfilling when you sound good, so these things rule!.. I highly recommend a pair if you're looking for some.

I bought a Epiphone Casino Coupe and a Vox AC10 amp. I had a couple of pedals also. It just wasn't for me ( especally the pedals). I traded them in and bought a Gibson Les Paul Standard 60's and a Fender Mustang GTX 50. I am totally happy !! No pedals, just plug and play !!!

Picked up a 2021 Gibson LP Standard 50s back in March. After seeing this one, I was done. I've owned two previous LPs - a early 70s LP Custom (should have kept!), and a 2016 LP Standard Faded limited release. This guitar has totally floored me...it has the sustain, the growl, the quack, the clarity. I couldn't ask for anything more. I have a set of PAFs (1960 and 1962) that I want to throw in it, but I've been hesitating because I just have a hard time imagining that anything could improve it's tone. I'll still probably do it to satisfy the itch, but I'm left longing for nothing in the LP realm.

I had that cab.... I'd get away from those, I can't believe how much better these speakers are. The reverb and delay is the biggest surprise, they sound so much clearer and pronounced. I thought the orange cab was good until tried these Mesa voiced v30's.

I’ve been experimenting with string gauges on my guitars. It totally changed the feel on the instruments, which impacts how I play. Bonus- it’s a cheap and fun experiment.

For 2021, learning to turn off the bright switch in the Amp Block on my Fractal AX8.

This resulted in the last 10% to 15% I was looking for.

I have owned the AX8 nearly 5 years, the tone is incredible, and I am still finding little ways to tweak it to sound even better. The biggest limiting factor at this point is my own time for practicing and further exploring the AX8.
