I received some used pickups. I need to direct mount them to my guitar rather than use pickup rings.

I need to enlarge the holes to accommodate slightly larger diameter screws. The only tool I have for this is a cordless drill. Should I get a step (cone shaped) drill bit? Any other ideas?

You could take a regular twist drill the right size and blunt the corners just a little so it doesn't grab when you break through.

Alternatively, a dremel with a bit for metal would work, as would a needle file.

I forgot I had a dremel. Bought a metal bit at Home Depot today and success. Thanks for the tip:cheers2:

I have a tap & die set. You could just use drill bits, working from smallest to the diameter size you want
