Happy New House Day!

From time to time, someone around here posts good news and many people chime in. Other times, the news are sad or even downright heartbreaking, and many people reach out one way or another. This is what has made MLP special to me and others, and what makes it an online community. I can say that I feel I actually have friends over the screen whom I may never get to meet in person, but are real and appreciated.

A while ago, over half a year, I posted a thread on my wish to get a house for my family and myself, and how that translated into not getting more gear for myself. Someone read it and decided to gift me with a wonderful Epi guitar. The guitar itself is fantastic and will likely ever be kept in my family, but more than that, it was a selfless and touching gesture from someone who´s never met me, and probably never will.

Well, guess what? The chance to get a house materialized and I posted some pics of it at different building stages. There were a number of people who posted in this thread with good wishes and genuine interest. Let me tell you...I was more moved than you would believe.

For different reasons, my family and I still don´t live together. Issues between my mom´s son and I, money, etc. have sometimes gotten in the way. As a result, getting the house was bittersweet since I was going to live by myself instead of living with my son and his mom. Due to that, I kind of lost the wish to share that development here, even though some expressed interest in what happened with the house.

I have always tried to maintain a good relationship with his mom, and lately, we have talked about our relationship under the light of living together as a family. There is still reluctance on her part...it doesn´t always come down to love. However, we both care for each other and rekindled the relationship. Coupled with that, my son loves the house and his room. I get the sense that he also ´feels´ that his mom and dad being together is somehow good.

Anyway, now I feel I can share with my online friends this personal story and the pics that have been long overdue.

Thanks to Roberteaux, Nicky, Heartstring, laowai, Frettter, Rich, kevinpaul, Malikon, MIchaelinokc, sonar1, artistxe, and many, many others for your interest.

A few shots from the beginning of construction. Construction here is still very traditional and red brick is employed throughout.

It´s a very nice development. 64 houses built around a common green and swimming pool area. The fact that there is a pool is just amazing. And what´s more amazing, my bedroom has full view of it! There are many developments being built around here, although as you can see in one of the pics, there is still a lot of open country as well. Actually, there are some people here who still live from growing corn....I wonder how long this will last.

I think this is when they were halfway through. Although it seemed a long time, I think it actually was less than 4 months building. The credit took longer, and the actual handing of the keys much longer. The way these houses are built has proven to be a very popular design. There is another one of these, exactly like ours, next to us and it was 75% sold before they even started clearing the land.

That little kid is the reason for everything I do. This is the first time he went to the house, and there he learned that I was now living there. I remember he entered, looked around, and asked..."Is it yours?" Perceptive little guy... The second one is his own room, designed and painted by his mom.

Third is the dining area, and fourth is the living room. Fifth is the kitchen, which for now, has no cabinets. I hope I can remedy that as soon as possible.

And I hear people asking..."where will he play his guitars?" Well, there is room for that! Kind of...

There´s an open space upstairs just beyond the steps between both bedrooms. It is meant to be a small TV room, but at least for now, it´s where I have my desk, pc, and guitars. It will work as a home office, unless the downstairs bedroom is a better choice. I haven´t made up my mind yet.

Whatever space I use, there´s still a lot to do. I may want to hang the guitars on the walls, I don´t know. I am going to frame some posters and hang them along with some vinyl records I have.

There is no amp because some time ago I decided to try digital modeling and it seems like a good solution to me. So, I even have the luxury of my personal space to work and play for a bit.

That's a strong, good looking young man you have there. I hope everything works out for you.

It´s a very nice place, thanks. There are other young families here as well. So far, we´ve met some girls and a boy who are all from 3 to 8 years old. The moving was fine, we did it over time and there´s always something to do around. I still need a lot of furniture, so now I´m looking into building a couple of shelves with a friend.

Congrats! I hope everything continues to get better in your life. :)

Thank you my friend! I hope I can work and grow where I am for a long, long time.

Enjoy your home and son.

Will think best thoughts that it works out as well as possible with his mother.

Very happy that at least you get to live in your new house!

Concentrate on the son-- now you've got a great place for him to stay, and who knows: maybe the mom will get to thinking of the obvious advantages your residence has to offer your entire family-- or maybe not. I don't know enough about her to predict much of anything...

BUT, consider this: while others are given some sort of "man cave" as their sole fief under a roof, your entire house will be yours!

This works great for me, I might add. Lately, my ex has started talking about how we should get back together and all this... and all I do is think about how peaceful and nice it is here without her-- and how the whole damned place is mine to do whatever I want to do with it, and no second opinions need be consulted.

If things ever did come to pass that I would trust her enough to let her come back :)laugh2:), the deal wouldn't involve a "man cave" and she'd instead get a sewing room. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, eh? :D

Anyway, best of luck to you and your son-- and enjoy living in your very own new home!

Not sure how old you are, but you demonstrate wisdom beyond many I know. You have placed meaningful priorities for your life, and seem to have a plan with great expectations, but a sense of reality, as well.

May you have many blessings for your family and home.

I do realize that Rob, and in a way, I like the idea very much. However, I want to give the relationship with his mom a fair chance and if living all together is possible, I´ll give it my best.

Thanks! I live 2,894 kilometers from Tijuana

Thanks for your words Nicky. It´s not difficult to realize that collecting guitars is a luxury. I´d never sacrifice anything important for a selfish luxury. I appreciate your wishes and wish the same to you and yours.

Congratulations MB, been watching this tread from the beginning, it must be gratifying to finally be inside.

Also, I did not know 'significative' was a word, so thanks for that!
