Kingsxman, you're killing me here! That's my fave top ever. It's your guitar and I sincerely want you to be happy...but....man I love your guitar's top! If you do go for the HM, I'll be praying for you that it turns out better than it already is.

Its pretty good looking now, but it potentially can be better. Plus, its more of a feel thing and I am looking to get the neck shaved down. I dont recall if I mentioned or not earlier in the thread but I've been playing a buddies 2014 R0 for a couple weeks now (with option to buy) and REALLY like the neck. This 2014 "heavy aged" batch has a bit bigger neck than a normal R0.. I believe that it would be right in line with a HM 59 shaved neck. But the "FEEL" of an aged guitar is just fantastic. So a few different factors going into the decision.

BTW, here's a pic of the color I'm thinking about. Dirty lemon..

Do you know if HM will do a refinish on a replica? I emailed them, but never heard back. Assuming that was a No.

Precisely how?

Always comes across more as a "forum bragging point" than an "enhancement". I've played and owned both types of rosewood.

I'm also wondering where a steady supply of Brazilian Rosewood is coming from (not just HM, not singling them out - they do fine work). Is anyone here familiar with how it is imported?

Here you go , This should be the easiest way to get some , as it's here already ... I haven't contacted them ,,,ever . But Getting BRW isn't difficult at all . I'm sure there are sources worldwide , If you look. Google can be your friend . Took me 2 seconds to pull this site up ....

Brazilian Rosewood Guitar Sets - CITES Certified : Hanover Marketing and Trade specializing in helping U.S. and Brazilian companies develop practical import export sales, sourcing plans and more.

If you wanted to import it yourself (I wont go into detail here as I have in other posts )......
You would need time and $$$$ . You need to do all the paper work in Brazil (certification of when and what was cut & for Export)and then for the USA (same and for import) .... Have fun getting that....:laugh2:

You will need someone who is fluent in Portuguese .... who, you trust to do all the paper work in Brazil .
My suggestion ,,,Buy it here . Times are very difficult in Brazil right now (I just returned to the USA last week) and unless you have VERY GOOD connections there, the risk of getting ripped off is even more then normal now ..... many Wolves in the World .... Lots of prey to pick from .....

Call Starr Guitars , I've had them , Kip, work on 1 of my New (at the time , Blond Memphis 2014 ES 345)guitars . They were doing HM's painting for a while(till 2015) ,,, They do 1st class work . I know for fact they do this ,as I discussed with Kip repainting my Replica when I was picking up my finished 345 ..... Call Kip and talk to him ,Great guy to deal with and will not be finished with your guitar before it's perfect .....

Outstanding work ,imo .....No one ever posted a complaint(that I've ever seen) about their HM when it was painted at Starr guitars . :applause:

I emailed HM also and never heard back. I'll have to call them if I decide I need more info I guess.

I called Kim to talk to him and told him I sent an email. He said they were having issues getting emails through their site.

I've been thinking about the standard with heavy aging on my #1. It already has a killer FB so I don't think the Dlx will add much. I also don't want anyone to mess with the neck either.

The player option isn't a big enough discount to go through all that hassle.

Anyone know if they remove the neck on the standard makeover?

Thx. I will give him a call if I decide to go that way.

BTW, I'm following your thread as you and I are pretty much on the same page with what we want the end color to be and our guitar candidates.

It drives my OCD off the chart seeing guitars balancing on cement like that. I would specifically ask Kim not to do that if I ever sent him one of my guitars.

Man, it's been relic'd, seriously, Kim probably dragged the guitar around the parking lot for a while to get the dings in it!

For what it's worth - a lot of people look on the relicing with disdain - me, not so - if the guitar was totally pristine I'd be fretting endlessly about the first ding, whereas when I got the first guitar back from Hm it was; "cool, whack it in the gig bag and off to the Saturday night gig - who cares!"

That is a very nice feeling!

Then again, the 53 Goldtop gets exactly the same treatment.

Cool. I emailed Kim yesterday, he said clear and buff, then I'll be finished. It's been 5.5 weeks. Should see it home soon!

Does the 6/6 make a difference on a 2013+ model?
