My CC7 isn't a Dead Ringer for 0-0289 but it certainly has features that mimick the top of the original.

The top of my CC7 isn't the prettiest but if you put the two side by side you could probably see features in the woods that are congruent...

But I am just making a judgment based on the available photos of 0-0289.

I can tell you it is my #1 gig master at the moment, and is the best sounding guitar, both electric and unplugged.

Personally, while I like highly figured LP's I would never buy a CC that looked totally different than the original. I'd buy a highly figured R8 or R9 for less.

Inspired by?

These are not replicas.

If it looks absolutely nothing at all like the Original then I wouldn't even consider it inspired by. How can a super flamed top R8 be called inspired by a completely plain top Original?

Well, if you listen to Charlie Daughtry he'll tell you that CC24 Nicky is a run of guitars that could have been produced around that range is serial number. Similar color and figure but not exactly the same.... A bit go ahead and pay up anyway!

Yes... There's a big difference between Dave's run of cc15 and the actual burst... But I like these better

If Dave's did order them to be Flamey, it's not Gibson's fault. That said, if he didn't then Gibson has some explaining to do. I love the CC15. Mine is the best playing Les Paul I've ever owned or played. But yeah, these flamed tops are a little weird for this model.

I like the ones Dave has also. Nice looking R8's but I personally wouldn't consider many of them to be a CC model of Gregs Original.

From the looks of them Gibson could have randomly grabbed anything from their line, sprayed it and shipped it out the door with a CC#15 COA. They obviously didn't take the time to even somewhat consider the Originals tops they were suppose to be trying to recreate. Isn't that what the upcharge for a CC is about?

Is it possible that Dave's ordered these CC15's with a more flamey top?

No , That's exactly what was done ....Imo  And all will sell at some point .
I think there are some nice 1's in that lot at Dave's , just keep telling yourself . What CC, What CC???? don't look at the headstock stamp, It's just a nice figured topped Aged R8 (with a neck similar to an R9) for a few bucks more
It's a good deal in that light ,me thinks .....:thumb:

From my perspective, there is some really interesting Maple in this offering from Dave's. :thumb: :)

Whether they look like the original or not, if I had the $$$ I'd take any of the four posted just above me. I love those kind of tops. Very unique and interesting. Dare I say, I like those more than the typical flametops?

I'm most digging the 3rd one down. I wish I had the $$$. It'd be coming to stay at my house.

With this run I'm seeing these almost more as really cool and unique R8's than a CC. I find these guitars way more appealing than any of the TH's I've seen come out so far this year. Much better price too.

Probably part of Dave's strategy

Looking at these from another perspective:

Since the top of the original is largely plain, it does leave some room to "Play" with otherwise unusable wood that still enough beauty...not quite bad enough for a GT or other opaque color but just wont look good in the burst livery....

I like a couple of them actually...

Dave definitely seems more interested in offering 2013-2014 style models with the lower price points.
