hi ppl this is my first ever post . iv bin on here reading for a while and seen some threads of epi s being modded .iwill admit i new nothing about my epi till i started browsing this forum. i broughit in 2005 ish and it was my only guitar for ages but now i just brought a tom delonge es333 so iv decided to beef up my epi as i bloody love it and its my first guitar and did about 60 gigs with it so it deservs it i would never sell it

ok this is what iv brought for it as of now bare in mind non of this is fitted;

gotoh nashville bridge

gotoh sg360 machine heads

gotoh tail peice

gibson 3 way switch

gibson nut

4x 500k cts pots

2x 0.022 Sprague Orange Drop caps

four feet of USA made, 22 gauge, cloth covered wire (2 ft of black, 2 ft of white)

1 m of Gibson Silver Braided Wire

and im having the guitar refinished in like a antique white nitro

pickup wise i had a seymour duncan invader in the bridge but i reckon im gonna ditch that and get 2 gibson dirty fingers

i will have a pro set up when the guitar is built i want it to lookn play like new

i play in a punk band and im a massive pistols fan thats why i want the dirty white colour

thanks for lookin and i have a few questions as iv never wired a guitar or oet so

have i got decent caps - 2x 0.022 Sprague Orange Drop caps ( caps confuse me)

can any lp vetrens give me any tips on the stuff iv brought have i brought crap should i change owt im already thinkin of a graphtec nut

this is the only pic i have . but therewill be more when its back from paint:slash:

I'm going to go on a limb and say modding your epi can be fun, it can also be costly and time consuming. Do yourself a favor and buy a switchcraft switch, maybe some new pickups, and wire your guitar with 50's wiring.

My epiphone's nuts work great for me, as long as they are lubed, the grover tuners work fine, I haven't had any problems with the bridge or tailpiece, the stock alpha pots sound fine. In my opinion save some money and time!

That being said, I have a guitar with a graphtech nut that is wonderful...if you already have all that stuff on your list, have at it man.

+1 on the 50's wiring. I just upgraded my studio with a 50's wiring kit from Jonesy & absolutely love it. There is so much more range and tonal options now available it amazes me everytime I plug it in. The CTS pots and Orange drops will be all ya need, changing out the switch and jack was something I did at the same time as the stock pieces are junk.

Before changing the pickups, check out how it sounds with just the new wiring setup. I've still got my stock Epi PU's right now, but it still sounds like a totally new guitar.

Good luck with your build & do as much as you can yourself. The wiring and such is really not that hard & can be done pretty easily.

i doubt changing bits for better bits is gonna ruin it . cost doesnt matter as the guitar has proved its worth resale value doesnt matter as il never sell

But it says Switchcraft on it, right?

One will be a short shaft (used for Epiphones) and one will be a long shaft (used for Gibsons).

While I'm one of the biggest skeptics here that changing one thing (nut, bridge, wire) can have a discernible effect on a guitar, I nonetheless believe that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, and that "better" components do not always improve a guitar.

If I had a guitar I believed in like you believe in that one (and I do have several), I would go very slowly with these mods. You risk ending up with a completely different guitar that just doesn't "have" what it has now.

Good luck with all of it anyway, and post lots of :photos:.
