You just don't know what went down to get this PRS AL D Quilt Top!

Harassing Paul Reed Smith almost non-stop, Jack Higginsbotham President of Op's at PRS (awesome dude), emails back and forth with Al Dimeola himself, who incidentally didn't even know about a Quilt Top in his Sig model until he was enlightened, then he wanted one for himself!

Paul Reed Smith made two prototypes of the "AL D" a flame top and a quilt top... here they are...

A good friend of mine saw these and wanted the Quilt Top Prototype (I tried to talk him out of it), we approached Paul and asked for the proto, he said absolutely NOT! His Proto's go into the Archives and NEVER leave the factory!

Not taking no for an answer the "harassing of Paul Reed Smith" began! At one point I thought Paul was either going to deck my buddy or have him escorted off the premises.

During a recent interview, when asked how he felt the "2008 Experience" went and what he learned, Paul Reed Smith stated the event went very well but next year he will NOT display his prototypes!

1 of only 3 QuiltTop PRS Al Di Meola Signature model. QT is not an option on this model, but I can get you one "Special Ordered" if you want!

This axe sounds GREAT even though you should be in a Village People cover band with this finish. I played it trough a Hughes/Kettner Statesman 30W and my new Valve Junior... yes the "Al D" definitely SMOKES!

I didn't bug Paul my buddy did... I hit Paul's assistant and his President of Operations up to help my boy out with what he wanted. I don't want Paul pissed at me, some day I may want a Special Order.

It is in the 2009 production line but its only available in curley/flame, the quilt top is not an option. There are three with a quilt top, Paul Reed Smith has one quilt top with the prototype of that model, Al DiMeola has one quilt top, and my buddy has the third. Sweet!

Apparently there is a FOURTH quilt-top Al D hanging out in my shop... I remember you telling me "it's not a quilt top!!!" I should have looked right then and there!!!

I believe my buddy paid around $3700.00 after taxes. Which is only a drop in the bucket compared to what he paid for his Modern Eagle!

I'm sure there is some color differences between the two. I bet there is subtle differences between all the Al-D's.

Also, not to nit-pick, but this is the second one of those that I have seen since I have been working there. And it is quite a bit different looking than the last, which wasn't a 'quilt.' I'll agree, it doesn't look like yours that much. But, it is what it is.
