Can anyone get me a plan or schematic that comes really close to a Gibson SG?
I'm planning on starting my first build and I have no measurements or anything. If anyone can help me with measurements for the cap, body thickness, Etc. If you all have a guide of some sort put together I would be eternally grateful. Also I will be ordering a neck from someone on here, I'm really hyped about making the body with my custom design.

PM me, and I'll give you the E-Mail address.

Thanks Guys+Gals
Ryan.

Gee thanks for all the help to the beginners guys. :) shows that I should put my faith in another area of the forum to help me with my problems. All I asked was for a little help for myself (being a newbie). I feel like i'm kinda on my own here, and that none of the people on MLP seem to have the time to give me any pointers or advice on me trying to build my own instruments. Now I see that there are few of you actually willing to give me a nudge in the right direction with your expertise. I appreciate that and I guess I will just give up on my build, because I'm flying blind when i'm on my own with no measurements or anything;
Not that any of you would be willing to just guide me a little to help me succeed on my first build, must be other really important stuff out there to draw your attention.

That being said, if anyone could find five minutes out of their day to help me get some measurements or schematics going, I would think the world of it. Especially one of the more experienced buiders on here.

Thank you all so much for listening to me vent, and for possibly changing your mind about helping me.

Ryan. P.S. If you would like to reach me to give me pointers on my build, hit me up privately or at my E-Mail, Rcowden65@gmail.com.

Thank you all so much for your patience, and know that I am not trying to offend, or piss anyone off. I'm pleading for help from the more knowledgeable members of our corner here. Thank you for putting up with me and someone please take me under their wing. :)

I assume you have looked here and here already? I've never built an SG, but a whole pile of plans in PDF form took me less than a minute to find online.

Also, why order the neck? It's actually not hard to make one at all and, for many of us, the most enjoyable part of the build. You can check out my recent video diary on how to do it if you only have hand tools or minimal equipment. There are plenty of other threads that show how to, as well as a bunch where people show their own SG making tips and techniques. Poro's fine build is a good example of hand tools for the process, Umberto has an amazing one, as does JonSG (both currently right here on the front page of the Luthier's Corner), and SG Lou has also done stellar work, to name but a few.

Good luck to you.

128 posts, in two years, and you're complaining that no one has replied to your thread, that is less than a month old?:hmm:

One more small tip - use Google to find things on MLP, as the forum search function is worse than useless. Everything you want to know is probably already here somewhere.

I bought plans from eBay, but they were practically no good.
Had to do a lot of research, all these threads Barnaby mentioned have lots of valuable bits of information.

There's also a sister forum Everything SG, I found a lot of good info from their Luthier's Corner.

I'll even make this a bit easier, here's a link to a good thread there: SG Measurements - SG Guitar Forum

Now... enough short cuts, start digging the info. :thumb:

And lots of spam. Never a good idea to post your email adress on a forum. Anyway, good luck with the build! By the way, i think there is a free SG 3d plan on Tom Barlett's website, if I remember correctly.

Hmmmm...you know what they say about sometimes emotion getting lost in a post on the internet, but that first paragraph sure sounded like a bashing of all the Luthier's Corner, because noone dropped whatever they were doing to provide you with free stuff that you could've found simply by using the search feature? Kinda going the "attract more flies with salt route", eh? I smell what you're cooking. Although, I'm starting to think I've been approaching this "help" thing all wrong.
