Hello. So I was Playing my guitar a few days ago, then Out of nowhere
I hear this Ping noise come from my guitar and my guitar goes completely out of tune. Ever since then my Guitars been sounding like complete shit. Mainly
making notes that are fretted sharp while the open strings are in perfect tune. The strings are not old, and Ive also tried another set just to be sure.
But the same crap keeps happening. I also do not press down on the frets hard which causes any guitars notes to go a little sharp. Ive adjusted the
guitars intonation quite a few times. But still sounding like shit. So Im going down the list and now looking at the Truss Rod adjustment.
Heres a picture of my guitar now. Not sure what to do.
Please help!
Thanks

What you're describing sounds more like an improperly slotted nut than anything to do with the truss rod. If the noise you heard was the truss rod giving way then you have a serious problem.

I turn the trus rod and nothing happens. Is it possible for the trus rod to be
all the way released. If not then Im ****ed cause I can pull the nut out
along with the rod

Nah, man. That's not right.

Sounds like the rod could be broken. You should NOT be able to just pull it out of there.

IMO, you need to take your axe to a shop or a luthier.

Im still able to tighten the Truss Rod pretty Tight though.
Even after it got really loose and pulled out of the neck.

Maybe it isn't broken if it is still threading into something. Wait for some more input on your thread. There are people that know more about the construction of these guitars that can help you. Or, you can post something here Luthier's Corner - Les Paul Forums and maybe get some good advice.

I'm going in blind here...
Did the bridge crack or shift?

A neck crack?
Nut?
A truss rod is highly unlikely. but if it was REALLY tight before , it may be the source.
Does the truss rod actually still adjust the relief? Maybe a new nut for it is all you need.

But that going sharp thing is the odd thing. Makes no sense to me.
But remember, I have practically no information and have not seen the guitar.

Maybe this thread should be moved to the luthier forum.
