fellow guitarists and tone freaks,
i have a 1988 orville by les paul custom in alpine white,
which i love greatly, she is my favorite guitar.
it currently has the original neck pickup,
which i believe to be a 57 classic or a burstbucker (as the OBG
included gibson electronics and hardware).
i love that pickup. its so smooth and sustained,
its perfect.
however in the BRIDGE position, some asshole replaced the original
with a Seymour Duncan Alnico II.
i like the pickup, but i feel it is a bit sterile,
and over trebly.
there is also definetely not enough response and gain in it.
i have come onto 3 different possibilities:
-sheptone AB
-burstbucker
-seymour duncan JB

i want a pickup which cleans up well when the distortion is off,
that responds better to harmonics,
responds better for playing faster and soloing (randy rhoads)
but still has some paf style crunch when less distortion is used.
more midrange (without being harsh)
any thoughts? thanks very much:dude:
