I think they changed to the little black book in '08, that's what my early '08 R6 has. Sounds legit to me! :thumb:

I've got an '08 '57 LP JR RI they do indeed come with the Black Booklet.

Looks like '07 was the last year for the larger COA's.

Hi,

I'd like a bit of help with something similar.

I recently got an ES 137 Custom which came with a nice little black wallet certificate. Last week I was at my father in laws looking at his guitars. His custom es 335 also has the little black wallet type certificate. So far so good. I then decided I'd have a play on his LP Junior 57 Reissue. it's a custom shop Historic Collection as the one on this thread. However, there was no little black wallet in the case. He said he doesn't remember having one or any other type of certificate.

I'd like to know a couple of things. Firstly, what year was his guitar built? The number on the headstok is 751614. I have tried using the dating info on the Gibson webs ite but am not convinced I'm doing it right. The other examples I have seen of serial numbers start with 7 then have a space, then have 4 digits, so are only 5 digits in total.

The second thing I'd like to know is what type of certificate it should have come with, although I guess the answer to the first one will answer the second.

Many thanks

I'm no expert on junior serial numbers,
but if it conforms to normal serial number reading,
7 is the reissue year, 5 is the manufacture year, and 1614 is the production number,
it would only have a space, if the production number was 999 or below.

making it a 2005, so the older style certificate, not the black booklet.

Thanks for that.

Don't think he got the A4 certificate either so may need to take that up with the shop, although he's had it a couple of years now so may have to do without a cert.
