Help with a solo

Hey, I know im supposed to post this in the lesson section(11 viewing) but theres over 100 people viewing this section so why not.

Ok 2 questions:

1. What mode/scale is in the fast technical part of the solo?

2. I know it changes key, but to what? It starts out in key of D (tuned down a whole step so it would be C technically) and my ears know its changing key. Cant figure it out.

i have no idea, but Mastodon kicks ass. I saw them a few months ago in NYC with Dethklok and they totally rocked. they're have their own sound, so a lot of their riffs and melodies arent derived from the major scale and its modes.

Yea, I was listening to a interview with Brent and he said all of the solos on crake the skye are made up on the spot. One take and off the top of his head. Id like a little bit of an idea on what hes doing. Its so weird haha

your lack of response I'm going to guess is in part because people don't like the, I'll post it in the backstage so more people look at it theory.

it's done quite frequently, and I'll guess as soon as a mod see's this thread they're going to just move it anyway.
