Hello, first time user hoping to gain some insight into a guitar I am currently selling. Atm I’m contacting Gibson to authenticate what I believe to be a 2003 Gibson LPR6 Brazilian Rosewood model. Serial number (6 3105) checks out but was told the COA indicates it’s a later model. Neck appears to be BR but don’t have too much personal reference to be sure.
while waiting for Gibson’s reply I thought I’d give the forum a shot. I sincerely appreciate the wealth of knowledge forums like this one offers, thanks in advance!

A link to my Reverb page Is provided to see images, I can’t seem to upload photos due to files being to large.

The COA being the black booklet type would date it to 2013.

A 2003 would have the 8x10 Diploma type with the Art and Historic logo. The case would also have the Art and Historic Logo.

Your case if original to the guitar, was one of the last ones with the Gibson Custom logo with the star. The Cali Girl cases made a come back in 2013, but I vaguely remember it was a little bit in to the year before they shipped.

Appreciate the reply!

Your reply confirms what was told to me by Some potential buyers, I’m sure Gibson will confirm this. I was thrown off by the fretboard and serial number, also don’t mind keeping this guitar if this hurts it’s initial desirability I’m Reverb. Thank you!

That COA looks to be from 2013. How long have you had the guitar?

From another Gibson website

"1956 Reissue, ranging from 63001-63148
-the only exception here is that number 63126 does not exist as far as i can tell"

Might be time to update the ad now that you know its a 2013. I hope you didn't pay Brazilian prices when you got it. That's a $2,300 guitar.

Just updated the listing, I didn’t pay Brazilian prices for the guitar but didn’t do much research when purchasing initially, might pull this off reverb soon. Thanks for the reply!

Sorry, gonna have to disagree about it being a 2013, that's a 2003.

It has a wired abr-1 - nut is corian - inlays are acrylic - tuners are green button 2003 style - ground bus wire is thinner than 2013.

Now, is it brazilian? I dunno, it looks a lot like the madascar board on my 2003, but if Gibson confirms its brazilian by serial number, then it's brazilian.

Btw - Might want to flip the abr-1 around so it's facing the right direction.

Thank you for the reply, I temporarily ended the listing until I hear back from Gibson, too much to speculate but could go both ways. The previous owner purchased off eBay from an shop in Texas, could very well be they the case and COA were used after. Much respect for pointing All these details out! I don’t wanna misrepresent this guitar while selling, hoping Gibson replies soon.

Purchased the guitar on CL earlier this year, not too sure how long the previous owner had it but he purchased from a shop in Texas via EBay.

So, you got it after 2013, that’s what I was getting at. It’s hard to believe that the COA doesn’t belong to that guitar.
