I'm thinking about getting one of these. I'm not playing huge gigs or anything, and I KNOW it's not gonna be as big and bad as a Marshall tube amp, ok?

However, I have Marshall 15 watt, and I'm really impressed with it. It gives me that classic Marshall sound, and I want that in a bigger amp.

Does anyone have any experience with these?

Brother Hed, Save buckets of Duckets and get a smaller Tube amp instead man , Hell you can find a Fender Pro Junior that can do that Marshall Crunch, add a Graphic EQ to help further tone shape it

Don, I've got a 50w Peavey valveking, but the thing is tooo..."Blatty"....no real saturation. Pro Junior? Hmmm....I'll check that out, too.

Hmm Hed, have you turned that switch knob in back that goes from A to AB ? and messed with it?( on the Valve king) try some other low wattage all tube amps that are all Class A in design or an older Crate V15 or VC20, the latter can run headphones as well also good and can serve as a direct out to your recording board

Yeah, I've messed with everything on that amp. I want more of a "rock" sound, than a "blues sound", and I need something that's gonna be louder than 15 watts. If I was gonna go for 15 watts, I'd go Blues Junior. More EQ, 12 inch speaker and reverb on that one, not so with the Pro Junior.

The Crates over 15 watts are and can get pretty raucous Rock tones the VC20 would practically do metal stuff with the gain past six , hit the mid boost and even your Strat can do Black Sabbath

I can check out the Crates....but, like I said, I like the 15 watt Marshall that I have, and my friend at the store thinks that this is a larger version of that.
I'll have to check it out.

I was going to post a similar question, but this is just so "almost " the same.
A friend at work wants to sell me an MG100HDFX with 4x12" cab pretty cheap. But I don't know if they sound good. I've been ready to buy a Valve Jr.( I love tubes). I just play at home and don't need any 100W amp. I've heard it through headphones (not the best way to judge it). We didn't bring the cab in to work. I wanted just the cab, but he won't split it up.
Would I be able to get any decent tone from it at low volume?

I have one and I pritty much h8 it, the clean is really weak and the distortion is really muddy.

I only have it cos I ain't got much money, really I'd advise a valvestate or a cheap valve like peavy valveking.

Well ZZ and Victor...Thanks. I agree. I just brought the thing home and played it and I don't think it sounds any better than my Line 6 Spider. Clean may have some hope, but the Crunch sounds gawd awful...buzzy. And what's with the volume, and channel switching...I must need a night course to figure that out.
I'll wait for the Valve Jr., or the Vox AD30V. I've tried both and like them.
I like the VC20, but can't find one, and the Peavey Valveking is nice but 30 watts is too much tube goodness for me.
Flash:
I just heard about some new Fender ...Super Champ I think. Maybe I can check that out.

Just about anything is better than an MG or Line 6.

Ok, thanks for the info!
I was just wondering. I'm not a big fan of most solid state amps, but the reviews on this one were pretty good.

I think I'll just stick with Fenders and use pedals.

i wouldnt buy a new one but if you can find a used cheapee and all you want to do is sit at home go for it.
if you plan on gigging even in a garage band it will tend to fall flat on its face at higher volume

its one of those amps that sound good on 1 or 2 but not on 6 or 7

Well, I did want it to play live with, so that answers my question! I have a Marshall 15 watt that I use for practice, so I don't need 2 practice amps.
Maybe I'll just try to work with the ValveKing more. I have a Blues DeVille which is great, but just too big and heavy to lug around. That's why I want a smaller amp, one that'll sound good at higher volume, yet portable.

Thanks, guys!
You know, amps can sound great in the music store, but then when you turn them up, they sometimes suck!

I just bought a used one yesterday it's in mint condition not a scratch on it and it sounds awesome probably the best solid state sounding tube amp out there, I don't know why people are saying negative thing's about it, probably never play one before or can't play the guitar that well or they have cheap pick-up's in there guitar or don't know how to dial it in or whatever combination and I'm playing through a Gibson Les Paul Double Cut Away Studio, I bought it use so I didn't know what type of pick-up it has they must be pretty decent, probably Gibson Factory pick-up's, I had a Crate DX112 modelling amp before this one and the Marshall is definitely a better sounding amp and I think just about any amp whether it be a solid state or valve state or even a tube amp when turn up to 8 or 9 or even 10 the sound would definitely break up, nothing is perfect.
