Hi

I am new to this, so hope this is not a too rookie question :)

I have a 2014 Epi LP Slash Rosso Corso. The pickup toggle switch is nasty, i used spray, it fixed for a while, but now I want to really fix it.

Where could I find the original part schematics and maybe original part number for this?

Also, does anyone recommend any other (non-original) switch?

I know, for sure, most switches would be good. But I want to keep mine in top shape :D

Not exactly sure what you are talking about to replace, but this should help: https://www.philadelphialuthiertool...ch_query=metric toggle switch&section=product Make sure you only buy "metric" or "import"

Before you go there, try to take the toggle switch apart and bend the prongs to the inside a bit. As you're in there, make sure the contacts are clean. That should fix it for good.

I have a few 15 year old Epiphones with their original pickup selectors and they still do what they were built to do. Like any other mechanical apparatus, it will need maintenance. Even your expensive Switchcraft will eventually accumulate grime and give you trouble. Like any car door hinges.

wow, great info - thanks! I will try to do that. I have some basic skills - I hope I don't tear anything out.
What exactly do the prongs do (not do in case faulty)?

So if you put it to the middle, you should see that the two prongs both contact the middle (i.e. both pickups on).

When you move it to the bridge pickup position, it pushes the contact connecting the neck pickup away. and vice versa.

In addition to making sure the contacts are touching properly (i.e. both touching in the middle, and the rocker actually moving one away in either position), sometimes if there's a bit of crud built up around the contact point (see below), then you'd be better off wiping it clean and/or polishing the contact with some metal polish

That dot is the only contact point, and it was dirty af.

After cleaning it worked fine:

Thanks!

Also @slashpaul, in case the description wasn't clear, here's a cross-section of the switch (and please marvel at my MS paint skills :laugh2:)

You should actually just bend the outside rounded blade to the inside. If you bend the inside prongs towards the outside, they might not touch when middle position is selected.

Hey man those 3d paint skills are better than mine are :) I would say as an answer to the OP's question would be to use this as a good excuse to put a nice Switch Craft toggle and briaded wire upgrade. Now of course that is IF the cleaning the old switch out first doesn't work. Though I have replaced mine for the switch craft for less of a reason!! This is the braided wire upgrade and harness in my relic 59. I wish I had the skills to do this to all my 59's....

There's never anything wrong with replacing parts either! Those switchcraft switches are very high quality products and do feel tighter and have a nicer click to them.

I love em man. With the deep dish nut they sink into the body a bit. Makes other toggles feel cheap!! Not the best example of what i mean but this is the one i did on my ADB 59 infact this one could probably sink in a little bit more. I had to rehhem the hole out a tad to get the deep dish nut to set flush. Need to remember that when I work on it again...
