Hey y’alls I recently got a vintage single pickup Greco FB85, made by FugiGen in Japan. The serial on the back of the headstock reads 0 8701. According to the dating resources I’ve seen, that makes it either a 1980 or 1990. It’s a phenomenal guitar, but it’d be nice to narrow down the margin of manufacture to less than 10 years! Anybody got any ways to tell which decade it might have been manufactured in?

Pics of the headstock front and back would be helpful.

Looks like a set neck, not through-neck. Previous owner moved strap button to the heel, they’re obviously not original. Dunno why these pics are posting at this weird angle...

The serial is inked in the back of the headstock under the lacquer. It’s very hard to see. Tuner casings seem the same as the other examples I’ve seen online, but I’m not sure about the pearloid buttons. If they’re aftermarket they were added early on, they’re old with stress cracks and some slight discoloration. They’re staying, I love ‘em.

I think it's a 1990 FB 600, which I did see in a 1990 catalog. I did not see any FBs in two 1980 catalogs nor a 1981 catalog, but that doesn't mean they didn't exist necessarily. Hopefully others will chime in as well.

Thanks man! Found that catalog online, the 600 looks like a dead ringer for mine. That’s probably it...

Pics are needed :) The pots and cap were changed in mine too. The pots are CTS IIRC, but I don't know what the cap is. I may swap it out for a Sprague or PIO in future.
