Hey, I had been having trouble with my computer screen (the old, big ass ones)...so my father brought a lcd flatscreen today, and Ive been having trouble trying to make it work. The screen is a Hp w17e.
The screen has two cables, one that goes to the computer and the other one that gives the power to work. When I turn on the pc, the screen turns on and reads
''VGA
No Signal''

What does that mean? At first I though I hadnt connected the cable to the pc right, but Im fairly sure it is well attached. The power cable works because the screen turns on but for 3 seconds.

Any help please? :)

Pull your cable that goes to the computer out. Did you bend some of the pins?

if not, maybe you just need to make sure the cable has a solid connection in the inputs from both ends. also, make sure you're plugging the cable into the right sockets

Check to make sure there's not two different ports on the computer. If there is, try the other one.

Also there may be a switch to change the input on the LCD... Most likely, though, you'll need to load up the monitor's on screen menu, see if there are any options there.

How old is the PC?

2 years, at most...it isnt an old one. I changed the cpu but not the screen, so the screen was like 10 years old...and then I stuck this one

I had problems setting up my new one last year. It came with 2 different cables and I tried using what I thought was the better one. Turned out I had to use the other style cable.

OK i see it takes three kinds of inputs

"DVI-D with HDCP and VGA"

if you have an older computer, use the VGA plug
which is the smaller plug, and if you hae a DVI out on
your computer use the wider plug with more pins.
I think there is also a button you need to push
when you first turn your computer on that
Searches for Input, for Analog or Digital,
VGA

DVI

From what you said thats where we are, look for
the button to search for signal

did the monitor come with any adapters you can put on the end of the plug? something to make the pin shape different? also, how many inputs are on the monitor? if there is more than one with different shapes and it came with adapters try using the adapters and plugging it in that way

It has only one output- a VGA one. My pc has got a VGA as well. I dunno about the adapters, my father had it laying on his office and brought it over...
